    Abel Cabrera Wins Event #4
    Abel Cabrera Wins Event #4

    Abel Cabrera Wins Event #4: $550 H.O.R.S.E ($10,780)

    Abel Cabrera was prominent throughout this tournament and fought hard in a tough heads up battle with Nick Georgoulas to eventually gain the advantage. With the rising blinds he put his opponent under constant pressure and eventually had the cards fall in his direction to capture the trophy and the first place prize of $10,780.

    Abel is certainly a man in form at the moment, as this is his second final table of the PokerNews Cup Championships after his 6th place finish in Event #2: $240 Pot Limit Omaha with Rebuys. Congratulations to Abel and all of our final table cash winners.

    That wraps up our coverage from Event #4 but the poker continues this evening with Event #5: Tony G Celebrity Bounty Event in full swing around the Crown Poker Room.

    Nick Georgoulas - 2nd Place
    Nick Georgoulas - 2nd Place

    Nick Georgoulas Eliminated in 2nd Place ($7,508); Abel Cabrera Wins!

    Omaha H/L:

    Abel Cabrera limped into the pot from the button before Nick Georgoulas bumped it up to 40,000 from the big blind. Cabrera made the call.

    The flop landed {6-Hearts}{A-Spades}{Q-Spades} and Georgoulas led out with a bet before Cabrera raised to put his short-stacked opponent all in. Georgoulas committed himself and made the call.

    Georgoulas: {8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
    Cabrera: {10-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}

    The turn was the {9-Spades} and river the {K-Spades} and with no low possible it was left to the pair of sixes with ten kicker of Cabrera to scoop the pot and capture the trophy! He ends the run of Nick Georgoulas in 2nd place who takes home $7,508 for his efforts.

    Cabrera Takes Control With Check-Raise

    Hold'em:

    Nick Georgoulas raised to 40,000 and Abel Cabrera made the call. They took a flop of {10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Cabrera led for 20,000 with Georgoulas making the call.

    The turn landed the {10-Spades} and Cabrera checked. Georgoulas put out 40,000 but Cabrera shocked him with a check-raise to 80,000. Georgoulas sighed and mucked {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} face-up to leave himself with only around 70,000 and under pressure to overcome the huge blinds.

    Georgoulas Finds Miraculous River Double Up

    Hold'em:

    Abel Cabrera raised to 40,000 from the button and Nick Georgoulas bumped it up to 60,000 from the big blind. Cabrera made the call.

    The flop came {3-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Georgoulas bet out for 20,000 sending Cabrera into the tank. He eventually decided to raise to 40,000 as Georgoulas committed his last 52,000. Cabrera called and the cards were tabled.

    Cabrera: {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs}
    Georgoulas: {A-Spades}{5-Spades}

    Cabrera was thrilled with his call but wasn't so thrilled when the turn and river landed {Q-Hearts}, {5-Clubs} giving Georgoulas an incredible three-outer to stay alive!

    Georgoulas is up to 210,000 with Cabrera back to 250,000.

    Things Get Expensive For Georgoulas

    Stud H/L:

    Abel Cabrera bet the whole way but things got too expensive for Nick Georgoulas on sixth street as he was forced to fold. The boards were:

    Cabrera: (X-X) {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}
    Georgoulas: (X-X) {K-Spades}{5-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}

    Cabrera is now out in front with 320,000 with Georgoulas at around 140,000.

    We're now back to a round of Hold'em.

    Cabrera Scoops With Sevens

    Stud H/L:

    We finally saw both players commit themselves in a recent hand of Stud Hi-Lo. Nick Georgoulas bet on third street, Abel Cabrera led on fourth and fifth streets, before Georgoulas put Cabrera all in on sixth street.

    Their boards read as follows:

    Georgoulas: ({5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}) {J-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}
    Cabrera: ({A-Clubs}{7-Spades}) {6-Clubs}{K-Spades}{3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}

    Georgoulas needed to improve but bricked with the {10-Spades} on the river. Cabrera seemed a little disappointed as he prepared himself to squeeze the river (which was the {Q-Diamonds}), but was relieved when the pot was shipped his way as he scooped with just a pair of sevens! He's now up to 200,000.

    Players Tighten Up Through Stud Rounds

    The recent rounds have been fairly uneventful as the rounds of Razz and Stud have failed to see a pot reach any further than fifth street.

    Nick Georgoulas still holds a comfortable lead over Abel Cabrera, and as the players are currently chopping their way through a round of Stud Hi-Lo, you get the feeling that this battle will need to reach the Hold'em round in order to reach a conclusion.
