Player 226 has just been eliminated from the tournament and play has stopped with 43:47 left on the clock in level nine. We're being told by the tournament staff that players in Day 1b will play down until this exact time tomorrow, regardless of how many players remain.

David Robertson is our presumed end of Day 1a chip leader with approximately 116,000 in chips. Day 1b kicks off tomorrow afternoon at 12 p.m. PDT, so be sure to tune in to PokerNews.com for our continued coverage of Event 2.

Goodnight!

Bill Gazes Eliminated

An early-position player moved all of his chips into the middle and Bill Gazes made the call for his tournament life. Gazes held {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} but trailed the {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades} of his opponent.

The board arrived {Q-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{J-Spades}{6-Diamonds} and Gazes sadly hit the rail just prior to the conclusion of the day's play.

Sanchez' Kings Are Good

Tony Sanchez has just eliminated an opponent with all the chips in preflop. Sanchez held pocket kings and was in great shape against his opponent's pocket queens. The board of {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{8-Spades} shipped the pot to Sanchez as he makes a late surge to about 41,000 chips.

Table 19 Just Became Even More Dangerous

Todd Brunson
Todd Brunson
Todd Brunson was just moved to table 19. Here is the lay of the land:

Seat 1: Todd Brunson 7,300
Seat 2: Gavin Griffin 33,000
Seat 3: Bill Gazes 8,000
Seat 6: Todd Witteles 32,000
Seat 8: Shane Schleger 112,000

One More to Go...

We're down to just 226 players already, with just one more player to be eliminated before we call it a night.

Henry Tran Eliminates Another Player

Henry Tran raised under the gun to 3,500. A middle-position player raised all in for around 11,000 and Tran called. Tran held {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} and his opponent held 3-3. The flop came {Q-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{8-Hearts} to give Tran a pair of queens. The turn and river helped neither player and Tran moved up to 80,000 in chips.

Griffin Continues to Eliminate

After a player in the cutoff shoved all in for 8,700, Gavin Griffin made the call from the button. Gavin showed pocket nines while his opponent turned over A-K. His opponent missed the board and was one of the few remaining players to be eliminated in these remaining minutes. Gavin is back up to 37,000 after the hand.

Danger Will Robinson, Danger

Table 19 has just gotten a whole lot more dangerous. Gavin Griffin and Shane "Shaniac" Schleger were already there causing fits, but now Bill Gazes and Todd "Dan Druff" Witteles have joined the table. Gazes is on the short stack with 8,400 in chips.
