Billy Seri Eliminated in 2nd Place ($31,200)

Annette Obrestad made quick work of runner-up finisher Billy Seri, finishing him off in just three hands of heads-up play. Here's how the final hand went down:

Seri opened the pot with a pot-sized raise from the button and Obrestad reraised, putting Seri all in. Seri, short-stacked, made the call and a showdown ensued:

Seri: {K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Obrestad: {K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{2-Spades}

The board ran out {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{10-Clubs} and Obrestad's jacks held up to win the pot.

Seri will take home $31,200 AUD in prize money for his runner-up finish.

Ryan Gutch Eliminated in 3rd Place ($22,800)

Ryan Gutch
Ryan Gutch
Annette Obrestad has just claimed another victim at this final table in Ryan Gutch, your third place finisher.

Obrestad opened the pot with a raise to 35,000 from the button and Gutch called from the big blind. The flop came {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{10-Hearts} and Gutch checked to Obrestad who fired a 40,000 continuation bet. Gutch made the call, sending the action to the turn -- {A-Clubs}.

Here, both players checked, opting to see a free river card, which was the {3-Spades}. Gutch led out with a pot-sized bet, Obrestad then reraised the pot putting Gutch all in, and Gutch made the call.

At the showdown, Obrestad tabled {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{Q-Hearts} for tens full, besting Gutch's flush for the win.

Gutch's elimination set the stage for a heads-up match between Obrestad and short stack Billy Seri. Obrestad will enter the heads-up portion of the match with 856,000 in chips to Seri's 104,000.

False Alarm

Ryan Gutch just had a bit of a brain freeze during an all-in showdown against Annette Obrestad.

With the board showing {10-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{J-Spades}, Gutch bet the pot and Obrestad repotted, putting Gutch all in. A call was made and the cards turned up:

Gutch: {J-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{K-Spades}
Obrestad: {J-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{9-Spades}

After the river delivered the {7-Clubs}, Gutch let out a premature cheer, thinking he'd won the pot, but then he quickly realized that they both had the best hand -- two pair, jacks and fours.

Choppy Joe

Billy Seri has emerged as the showdown king here at the final table, haven't lost not more than three showdowns since the final table commenced earlier this afternoon.

In a recent hand, Annette Obrestad opened with a raise to 41,000. Next to act, Seri reraised all in for about 112,000 and Obrestad made the call:

Obrestad: {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{2-Spades}
Seri: {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}

The board then ran out {7-Spades}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} and Obrestad and Seri chopped the pot, both with two pair (aces and sevens) with a queen kicker.

Gill Up, Then Gill Out

Oliver Gill - 4th place finisher
Oliver Gill - 4th place finisher
Former chip leader Oliver Gill has just been eliminated from play, but it wasn't without a fight. Gill dropped as low as one big blind, but was able to chip back up to 84,000 in chips before being knocked out of the tournament by Annette Obrestad.

In his final hand, Obrestad opened with a raise to 30,000 and Gill reraised all in, a bet worth 84,000. Obrestad made the call and the following showdown ensued:

Obrestad: {3-Spades}{4-Spades}{8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}
Gill: {J-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

The board then filled out {Q-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{8-Spades} and Obrestad took down the pot with eights full, sending Gill to the rail in 4th place ($17,600 AUD).

Hold Your Horses

Short stack Oliver Gill has just tripled through to ~50,000 in chips after surviving a three-way all-in confrontation between himself, Annette Obrestad and Ryan Gutch.

All of the money went in before the flop and Gutch and Obrestad checked down a {6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Spades}{A-Diamonds} board, sending the hand to a showdown:

Gill: {8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{6-Spades}
Gutch: {A-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Obrestad: (Muck)

Gill took down the pot with a set of twos and with one more double up, could be right back in it.
