Rousso Misses
We admittedly missed the preflop betting action for this hand, but we walked up to Table 7 as the dealer was pulling a pile of chips into the center of the table. Vanessa Rousso was all in for less than 10,000, and Matthew Nieberg and Luca Pagano (who took Eastgate's old seat) were still live in the pot.
The dealer ran out the board:
, with Pagano and Nieberg checking it down the whole way. After the last two checks, Nieberg announced, "Ace high." Rousso then tabled
for her own ace high, but it was no good either. Pagano showed up
, and his queens up earned him the pot and the knockout.
Rousso would ask and find out that her ace-jack was ahead of Nieberg's ace, but she couldn't overcome Pagano's pair. She stood behind her chair for just a moment to take one last look before heading off toward the exit. "God, I had so many outs too," she said, trailing off. "An ace, a jack, a king, a ten..." -

Qualifier Taking the Pros to School
We picked up a hand in progress in what was developing to be a big pot over on Table 7.
On a flop of
, the betting action wasn't clear, but three players each put in 4,100 chips apiece (Online qualifier Matthew Nieberg, Dario Minieri, and Vanessa Rousso). On the turn, the
drew a check from Minieri and Rousso, and Nieberg fired a bet of 8,000. Minieri quickly folded his cards, but Rousso was deep in thought.
She had just about 15,000 total chips left, and she was basically contemplating a decision for her tournament life. She eventually let her hand go, saving those remaining chips for a better spot.
All three of the Team PokerStars Pros on that table are struggling, each under 20,000 here midway through the day. -

Rousso Feeling Flushed
Vanessa Rousso continues to slide. We just caught her in action on a board of

and 4,000 of her chips committed into the middle. Her opponent made the call and Rousso tabled
for a handful of diamonds.
However she gave a little shriek of dismay at seeing her opponent table
for a bigger flush, as the river had diminished her hand.
Rousso is down to 17,500 and suddenly fighting to make day 2 action. -

Rousso Eliminated
No-limit Hold'em
Vanessa Rousso was all in preflop against Keith Lehr. Lehr held pocket queens to Rousso's jacks. Lehr was yelling the entire time for a jack. Even Todd Brunson joined in and yelled for a jack to come off as well. The poker gods must have been busy because no jacks fell on the board and Rousso was eliminated.
"Thanks for rooting for me." she said as she exited the room with much more of a smile than expected.
