Julian Thew - PokerStars EPT Baden Champion!

Julian and Denes receive their winnings
Julian and Denes receive their winnings
Julian Thew has beaten 281 other players to net official winnings of €670,800 as the champion of the PokerStars EPT Baden 2007. A long four days for the man they call "Yo-Yo". He started off losing half his stack in the second hand of the tournament but then got lucky with Q-Q vs. K-K, spiking a queen on the flop, and he never looked back.

After Vladimir Poleshchuk eliminated the first three players, Julian started to take control of the final table. The key pot was when he hit his flush draw against Thomas Fuller to get three-handed with a big chip lead. Once Denes Kalo knocked out Vladimir, Julian never lost the chip lead.

Julian Thew Wins the PokerStars Baden EPT!

Julian raised pre-flop to 120,000 and Denes re-raised to 330,000. After a long thought, Julian moved all in and Denes called.

Julian {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Denes {A-Spades}{5-Hearts}

The board was {2-Spades}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Julian's kicker played.

Julian Thew wins the official first prize of €670,800, his second major title this month. Julian also gets a seat in the EPT Grand Final in Monte Carlo worth €10,000.

Denes Kalo wins €375,000 for finishing second.
