End of Day 1B

It looks like my earlier predictions were wrong and no one appears to have gone over the 100k mark, despite the slightly larger field today, which goes to show how impressive Johnny Lodden's Day 1A performance has been.

The field played down to 59 runners again today which means the German EPT has 118 players remaining.

Day 1B is About to End

We are reaching the end of Day 1B with 59 runners still in the field. Roland De Wolfe is reraising every hand and has been all in three times in the last 20 minutes

Nicky is just getting the final chip counts; it looks like Day 2 will have 120 runners, but don't wager on that many being around by the first dinner break.

65 Players Remain on Day 1B

I don't believe any player has broken the 100K mark yet, but there are so many stacks now between the 50K and 80K mark that I can guarantee some of them will clash to form one or two monster chip leaders for tomorrow.

I can't get close enough to the players to get accurate counts right now, but I know some of the players sitting around the 50BB (big blind) mark are going to get hurt badly before play ends tonight.

Sima up to $70,000 at the Action Table

Miroslav Sima has just sucked out at the action table featuring Mickey Wernick, Dennis Christensen and Florian Langmann.

Sima flat--calls an under the gun +1 reraise, the flop is.

UTG+1 guy checks, Sima bets pot, UTG+1 guy reraises all in.

Sima stares at the board for long enough for everyone at the table to realize he has , and he calls.

UTG+1 guy shows .

And the turn brings with a on the river to give Sima a dominating $70,000.

This really is a crazy table; three players have been eliminated in the last three hands.

It's an All-In Fest for Final Level of the Day

But unfortunately, we won't be able to get as close to the action as we want to. The tournament directors have barred everyone from the tournament area, including press, which means I have try and count people's stacks from about 20 feet up on the balcony!

Danny Ryan

With news of Frank Callaghan's exit I was delighted to discover that out of nowhere we have a new chip leader, and I've officially made him an honorary Irishman for the rest of the tournament. He claims to be Swedish but with a name like that I politely informed him he that he must be mistaken.

He's sitting on a very impressive 80,000+ stack.

The Big Guns

There are about 95 players remaining at the moment, and a lot of those are short-stacked. There is a group of players between 50,000 and 70,000+ who are all looking very comfortable.

Also, Ben Grundy has had an amazing day, working his stack down to 3,600 at one point and with his tournament life on the line several times. He is now sitting around the 30,000 mark

I just watched Mickey Wernick raise about ten pots in a row. I wouldn't have stood for any of that nonsense, Mr Wernick!! He's on 40K and eyeing up Langmann's chips like they're made of bacon.

Nice Flop, Sir

Frank Callaghan was off and running after nursing a short stack for most of the day. He got it up to about 25,000, but all his hard work counted for nothing as his was busted by the big blind's on a flop. Ouch!

Frank is back on 12,000, but like many seasoned Irish pros is a survival master. Don't be surprised if he plays his stack of ten blinds all the way to the money.

We are on a Break

The final break of the evening before the blinds start eating everyone alive. Roland De Wolfe has just come into the press room, doing his best Borat impression to Rolf Slotbloom.
