Epic Poker Standards & Conduct Committee Puts Chino Rheem on Probation (12)
Trying to run a league based on a gambling card game where the players buy in and so should have a degree of autonomy unique to poker is a joke and EPIC just look very silly, so your $20K buy in buys you a telling off about a code of ethics? That is ridiculous, Rheem f***ed up but it's down to the players that loaned him money to chase it up, while he has other players silly enough to back him what does 'probation' actually do? I think EPIC have forgotten that the players buy in themselves, why should someone paying $20K have to listen to a self-elected group of fellow players wagging their fingers and telling people that play a game that's libertarian in spirit what to do.

Global Poker Index: Raymer, Clements & Clark Join the List (2)
Anyone else still trying to work out the point of this? Winning poker tournaments takes both luck and skill, no matter how many times you watch Rounders or listen to someone like Annie Duke go on about skill no one wins a poker tournament without being behind and getting lucky. No doubt that players on this list are very good but to give them a ranking for a game that requires luck is bizarre, a ranking like this once a player's career is finished would make more sense. And note how I used the word game and not sport, I love poker but it is in no way a sport.

2011 World Series of Poker Day 34: Marsha Wolak Wins Ladies Championship (1)
Well done Epstein for making a joke of a so called Ladies Event that is legally not allowed to bar men from playing.
Sexism works both ways, time to dump this antiquated relic, whose roots go back to when few women used to play in the main event and the ladies event was introduced so that the wives would have something to do the day before. It promotes the idea that women somehow need their own event which is sexist to them and tries to discourage men from playing based on their gender. The sooner it is dumped the better, but it always makes me chuckle how much moaning there is from women about men playing in this event you are just being as sexist as any idiot man that spouts misogynistic nonsense, equality is equality is equality, deal with it.

Who Missed Out on the FS+G Preliminary Qualification Round? (3)

And there's room for this in the congested poker world??
This seems to be a very strange approach to poker like trying to actually make it into a sport with leagues, it's a (admittably amazing) game not a sport, all that talk of qualifying and shizzle just bored me.

Hoping Perkins gets felted, if him or Laak start talking like they have done in the past the TV will be going off, when I saw this week's line up at the end of the last episode my first thought was 'oh *hit this is going to be the worse series ever.

Chops suck, and a 9 player chop is ridiculous, play to f***ing win and grow some balls. At the end of the day if they weren't pros then the original payout for 9th was pretty good anyway, go for 1st, the best pros always do.

PokerNews Op-Ed: Ranking the Latest World Champs as Poker Ambassadors — Part II (2)

I don't think I've seen Moneymaker smile since he won, that would put both Hachen and Raymer above him in my book, both are described as amateurs but both played a lot before they won it and are still fine players now. Moneymaker is responsible for the boom just because he was an amateur and happened to win when he did, it is called the Moneymaker affect but I think that name will live on longer than the player's actual record. I'd even have Eastgate above Moneymaker as well, he is a class act, and I'm still convinced that when he stopped player it was only media that described it as retirement, he said he was focusing on other parts of his life. Other players that retired then came back actually stated that they were finished for good, that is very lame in my book and just a snap decision that was later regretted.

HSP 7 line up looks interesting, another women like Jen Harman or Vanessa Rousso would have been good, Selbst is a good choice she is a great player. I could have done without Laak after the Poker After Dark cash game I may have to mute every time he opens his mouth. It's great that Doyle and Chan are in there another legend would have been good, it seems like a young line up.
The Scandi's are about as similar to each other as different countries in Britain, only you guys over the Atlantic would lump them all together.

Inside Gaming: Industry Visionaries Unveil Vegas-Style Plans for Europe, AC, and the High Skies (1)

Calling somewhere the Euro-Vegas just sounds insulting, why can't it just be The Madrid, Vegas is great and unique and in America, sure model something after Vegas but don't call it that for goodness sake, that's assuming that everywhere else should be just like America. I don't get why everything all around the world needs to look the same. Calling something the Euro-Vegas does not make it more appealing I'd rather go to Vegas, and then go to Madrid and see some difference.

Poker After Dark: Recap of the $150,000 Cash Game — Week 2 (2)
This cash game almost put me off ever watching Phil Laak ever game, he was so irritating, always pausing for screen time, making stupid obvious comments about hands when he should just have folded. And the volume of the guy, jeez over 2 weeks he went from being a player I always found entertaining to just looking stupid. You could see Viffer's irritation with him and I totally understood where he was coming from. If I ever hear him say 'net worth' or '85% sure I should call' or bang on about how his record breaking cash session made him a better person I will throw up I swear. If anything that session has pushed some screws loose, I can't remember if he is on HSP but I have this awful feeling that I'm going to have top put up with all that schtick all over again.........

PokerNews Debate: Is Prop Betting Good for Poker? (4)
With reference to the comment above, those prop bets are poker related, and those 2 only became good friends after playing poker with each other. Ultimately though a lot of these well known poker players are mainly degenerate gamblers otherwise they just wouldn't try and play the big games every single day, the aim of poker is to make money not take on the richest guys, unless you are one of those richest guys of course........

PokerNews Interview: Discussing WSOPE Changes with Ty Stewart (1)

It's moving because the Partouche Poker Tour Final was huge last year that's got to be the only reason. Confused by his answer to the first question, the WSOP is held in Vegas every year when it is called the WORLD Series of Poker, should we take that to mean that they will start moving that as well? If not then that is just a bad excuse, when the real reason has to be money.
