PokerNews Op-Ed: Poker Needs More Ambassadors (2)

1006 days ago

I agree with your assessment of the bad behavior at poker tournaments and how its a detriment to the game of poker, but I disagree with your perception of Jerry Yang. He has given a lot to charity with his winnings and I believe that is a good thing for the game of poker. Just because he doesn't go on High Stakes Poker and stack off cash to the top name pros doesn't mean he isn't good for the game. He is smart. He knows he can't compete with them in a high stakes cash game. In fact, that is a good thing for poker because he understands game selection. Jerry is an amateur player who won the World Series of Poker. If he wants to donk off money on the tourney and high stakes circuit, thats a choice, not an obligation as a WSOP main event champ. In fact, I believe he didn't have a sponsorship deal like some of the other pros who get bought into all these tourneys. He doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. Just my take.
