A gold ring to a Gutshot Straight

The first London Hold'em Masters was held at the Gutshot Club on October 3. 107 players competed for a first prize of £18,725 (€27,232) and a gold and diamond ring.

Sponsored by Betfair and Inside Edge magazine, this was the first major tournament staged at London's newest poker room, which opened in May this year.

Unique in being a private members' club and not part of a casino, Gutshot is in the city's Clerkenwell Road and welcomes visitors who can join on the spot if they produce their passports.

The entry fee was £500 (€725), with some players qualifying via Betfair's recently-launched poker website.
