Women Team Up with Charities for WSOP

For the second year in a row, notable women will be taking on the WSOP Ladies event to benefit the American Heart Association. The 2007 Queen of Hearts Team, co-captained by actress/player Mimi Rogers and team founder Lisa Tenner, will be donating a portion of their potential tournament cashes to both the American Heart Association and the WSOP's Official Community Relations Partner, The Nevada Cancer Institute.

The Team's line-up will feature three past winners of the WSOP Ladies event; Mary Jones (2006), Jennifer Tilly (2005), and Susie Issaacs (1996, 1997). These three bracelet winners will be joined by professional players Vanessa Rousso, J.J. Liu, Isabelle Mercier, Clonie Gowen, and Jennifer Leigh along with other prominent amateurs and business women. Collectively, the team has grossed over $2 million in tournament money finishes and event promoter Lisa Tenner says the Team expects to exceed its 2006 donation. Last year the event raised approximately $20,000.

This year's event is being sponsored by the Poker Players Alliance, who made the first donation to the team and both charities. The WSOP Ladies event is scheduled for June 10th and 11th at the Rio Casino in Las Vegas. The Queen of Hearts team will meet for a dinner reception on June 9th.
