WSOP Updates – Event #32, $2,000 7CS — Lisandro, Negreanu Highlight Final Table

Day Two of Event #32, $2,000 Seven Card Stud, provided plenty of excitement as the field continued to chase toward a World Series of Poker bracelet and the first-place cash of $118,426. Having started Tuesday afternoon with 213 entries, only 84 players returned on Day Two, with action continuing into the early hours until the final eight-player table was set.

Big-name players like Jeffery Lisandro, Daniel Negreanu and Howard Lederer gave the railbirds plenty to watch, though others such as Chip Reese, Allen Kessler, Chris Jesus Ferguson, Darrell Dicken and Cyndy Violette all exited during the action.

There were several big stories from the day's play, the first being the early battle for the chip lead between Nick Frangos and Negreanu. The two continually mixed it up, but Negreanu got the better of it late and heads into today's final table in second place in chips. Also of note is the continued strong play of Jeffery Lisandro. After making a final table earlier in this year's WSOP, Lisandro returns to this one with another shot a bracelet. Full Tilt bigwig Howard Lederer also made a deep run, surviving several all-ins before busting on the final-table bubble in ninth place ($6,203).

With the final table set and play having extended well into Thursday morning, the players and tournament officials then agreed to play the final table today as a newly scheduled Day Three; the original plan was for this to be a two-day event.

Leading the way to the final table is Lisandro with 195,000 in chips, but he is well within Negreanu's reach; Negreanu sits in second at 164,500 chips. Nesbitt Coburn, Greg Pappas, and original Day Two chip leader Nick Frangos are also still in the hunt. Short stacks Farshad Cohen, David Brody and Severin Walser, on the other hand, will need to make a move early if they hope to capture WSOP gold. The final table, with seating assignments and chips:

Seat 1: Daniel Negreanu — 164,500
Seat 2: Greg Pappas — 144,000
Seat 3: Nick Frangos — 90,500
Seat 4: David Brody — 46,000
Seat 5: Nesbitt Coburn — 150,000
Seat 6: Jeffrey Lisandro — 195,000
Seat 7: Severin Walser — 24,000
Seat 8: Farshad Cohen — 75,500
