888.com Announces $3 Million World Poker Crown

Early qualifiers have just started for a major new event on 888.com, the World Poker Crown, with a $3 million prize pool. The final eight players in a series of online events which began on February 20th and will run into late April will eventually be flown to Peralada, Spain to participate in the live, "offline" final, with the winner guaranteed to become a millionaire.

Qualifiers to the World Poker Crown are exclusively available at 888.com, running from now until the online final on April 26th, where the eight finalists for the tournament in Spain will be determined. Satellites to the event can be had for as little as… free. Players can also buy in directly to the online final, which carries a $1,000+50 price.

The eight finalists will be housed in style in Spain, staying at a 16th-century castle in Peralada, from May 6-10, 2008, the dates of the live final. The final will also be filmed for later broadcast, with Sky Sports (United Kingdom), Das Vierte (Germany), Spain's Tele 5 and Fox Sports Latin America already signed up to air the final. (U.S. players not eligible to play on 888.com.)
