WCOOP Day 8: Team PokerStars Pro George Danzer Captures A Bracelet

Wcoop

Day 8 of the 2009 World Championship of Online Poker at PokerStars was the only hold’em-free day on the WCOOP schedule. Event 19 was a $320 Pot-Limit Omaha [6-max, 1R 1A] and the final table did not lack big names. George Danzer stumbled at the beginning but bounced back with a little bit of luck. With six players remaining, Danzer and Shawn “buck21” Buchanan got into a raising war preflop. Danzer found himself all-in with {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} needing help against Buchanan’s {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{10-Hearts}. The board rolled out {K-Hearts}{6-Spades}{J-Spades}{8-Spades}{9-Hearts} as Danzer made the river straight to double up. It was hardly smooth sailing from that point, but Danzer's valiant battle paid off with a victory. On the final hand, Danzer held middle set on a board of {8-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{A-Clubs} and fortunately, for himself, “kunkku" tabled bottom set. The one-outer did not arrive and Danzer won $109,545 and the WCOOP bracelet.

Event 20 was a Limit Triple Draw 2-7 affair, the only one on the WCOOP schedule. “Timmy K” and “Iteopepe88” brought the two biggest stacks into the final table, but “Timmy K” won a huge pot between the two during five-handed play and never surrendered the lead from that point on. They went three bets pre-draw and each drew two cards on the first draw. The betting was capped and both appeared to love their hands. They stood pat on the second draw and again capped the betting. After both stood pat on the third draw, “Iteopepe88” bet and “Timmy K” raised. This time, “Iteopepe88” opted to just call and mucked when “Timmy K” tabled 7,5,4,3,2. An hour later, “Timmy K” defeated “Roc23rb” heads-up and pocketed $26,676 for the win.
