Aussie Millions, Event #4: Annette Obrestad Ships It

Annette "Annette_15" Obrestad took down a field of 160 players to capture the title of Event #4, $1,100 Pot Limit Omaha, of the 2010 Aussie Millions. Annette may have begun the final table third in chips, but once she gained the chip lead, she was full steam ahead to the $40,000 AUD first-place prize.

Michael Sampieri was the first to go from the final table at the hands of Billy Seri and took home $3,200 AUD. A few minutes later, Tony Bloom hit the rail when Obrestad {A-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} hit top two on a {j-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{k-Clubs}{2-Hearts} board against Bloom's {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}{5-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. He walked away with $4,800 AUD.

Paul Taylor finished the event in seventh place taking home $6,400 AUD and Emad Tahtouh's {K-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Spades} ran into Obrestad's {A-Hearts}{a-Spades}{q-Spades}{k-Diamonds}, giving him the sixth-place finish and a $8,800 AUD consolation prize.

Con Angelakis hit the rail in fifth place -- good for $11,200 AUD. Obrestad the wrecking ball smashed another's dream of the first-place prize when she eliminated Oliver Gill in fourth place -- good for $17,600 AUD.

Ryan Gutch also fell to Obrestad and was eliminated in third place for $22,800 AUD. It didn't take long for Obrestad to finish off Billy Seri and take the title. Seri showed {k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{9-Hearts} against Obrestad's {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{2-Spades}, and her jacks held up on the {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{10-Clubs} board. Seri took home $31,200.

This is Obrestad's first major PLO title. With this win, she became the very first woman Aussie Millions Champion.
