The Nightly Turbo: WSOP on ESPN, Martonas is Back, and More 0001

Hope your weekend was as good as ours was. Wondering what's going on in poker? You've come to the right place. We've got a sneak peek at this week's coverage of the 2010 World Series of Poker on ESPN. On top of that, Martonas has reappeared on the virtual felt, and more.

In Case You Missed It

Jordan “Jymaster11” Young had a pretty good Sunday on the virtual felt, taking down both the Full Tilt $750,000 Guarantee and the Full Tilt Sunday Brawl. Who else's Sunday wasn't too shabby? The Sunday Briefing has the results.

We've been bringing you the recaps of the Aussie Millions on GSN for weeks now. Today is no different. Nicole Gordon takes a look at the action from the Aussie Millions Main Event Final Table.

The Full Tilt Merit Cyprus Classic gets under way in about two weeks. Thinking about heading to Cyprus? We've got a little preview of the event here.

Tom "durrrr" Dwan and Patrik Antonius were back at it, logging a session of the durrrr Challenge, after a 92-day hiatus. Who came out on top? You'll find out if you read this.

WSOP on ESPN

Last week, we watched Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi take down the $50,000 Poker Player's Championship. This week, ESPN's coverage of the 2010 World Series of Poker is bringing you the Tournament of Champions. This is where we tell you not to forget to watch it Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. EDT on ESPN.

The lucky 27 who were voted in/won their way in to the TOC will hit the felt for their shot at the $500,000 first-place prize. Inaugural TOC winner Annie Duke, her brother Howard Lederer, Daniel Negreanu, and Huck Seed were among those battling it out, but only one would walk away the winner. Check out the preview of this week's WSOP coverage on ESPN.

He's Baaack

Who was it that disappeared from Full Tilt Poker's nosebleeds after his superaggressive style and enigmatic self caught the eye of all the railbirds across the virtual felt? Martonas. Conspiracy theorists seem to think that Martonas and the international man of mystery, "Isildur1", are the same person, but no one can be sure.

That being said, Martonas has reappeared on the virtual felts of Full Tilt Poker, playing $100/$200 pot-limit Omaha and $50/$100 heads-up PLO.

Fairways and Felts

PokerStars is bringing a unique contest to the Vilamoura stop of the European Poker Tour. The Fairways and Felts Challenge is a brand new event in which players will have to battle it out on the links, as well as on the felt. The buy-in for the event is €1,100 and will take place on the last two days of the Main Event.

The players' performance on the golf course will determine their chip stack on the felt. PokerStars Team Pro UKJP Kelly will host the event in Vilamoura. “I haven’t been playing golf that long but I’m already well and truly hooked. Golf is a perfect antidote to the stresses of the poker table – it’s physical but also includes the kind of mental challenges that poker players relish. Vilamoura is home to some of the best golf courses in the world – in fact, the entire resort was built around courses – so I am very excited at the prospect of playing there. I’m even hoping to go out early with friends to get some practice in beforehand," he said.
