The Sunday Briefing: Mishel "MISHELA" Anunu Earns $109,000 For Sunday Warm-Up Victory

Mishel Anunu

Four players emerged with six-figure scores from Sunday's battles on the virtual felt. One of those players is making a habit of it. Jonathan "jonyctt" Concepción pocketed six figures earlier this year for a Sunday Warm-Up victory and put himself in good position to follow that up with a Sunday Million win this week.

Elsewhere, Mishel "MISHELA" Anunu took top honors in the Sunday Warm-Up. Other Sunday winners included Wesley "ZeelandBoy" Wiemes, David "Scarer" Kilpatrick, and Phil "Grindation" Mcallister.

Less than two months after winning the Sunday Warm-Up for $114,516.97, Jonathan "jonyctt" Concepción looked to capture a victory in the Sunday Million. His heads-up opponent, "mypokerf," earned a win in the PokerStars Super Tuesday less than two weeks ago for $60,039.61. When heads-up play began, Concepción faced a 3-1 chip deficit and was unable to rally.

On the final hand, with the blinds and antes at 300,000/600,000/60,000, Concepción (16 million) min-raised to 1,200,000 on the button. A call from "mypokerf" (54 million) in the big blind delivered a 754 flop that "mypokerf" checked. Concepción bet 1,333,555 and, upon seeing his opponent put in a check-raise to 3,000,000, he re-raised all in with 95. A quick call from "mypokerf" revealed AA and neither the 10 turn nor 10 river were any help to Concepción.

Several notable players made deep runs in the Sunday Warm-Up, none with more online credentials than Casey "bigdogpckt5s" Jarzabek. After Jarzabek bowed out in eighth place, Aussie Mishel "MISHELA" Anunu went on to rise above all others.

With the chip stacks nearly even at heads-up play, a raising war ensued between Anunu and "MrBarrett82." The culmination was a seven-bet shove from Anunu with KQ. An immediate call from "MrBarrett82" holding AA looked to spell doom for Anunu. However, the board ran out 974A8 to give the Aussie a tournament-clinching flush to take it down.
