FTOPS XXII Day 10: Joseph Cheong and Stephen Chidwick Make Final Tables
It was another busy day at Full Tilt Poker as three more champions won jerseys at the Full Tilt Online Poker Series XXII. Twenty-six of the 38 events are in the books, but $5 million in guaranteed prize pools remain across the 12 remaining tournaments through Sunday, culminating with the $640 buy-in Main Event.
Tuesday's action kicked off with Event #24 ($216 Pot-Limit HA Six-Max). The popular mixed game, half hold'em and half Omaha, attracted 412 players to generate a prize pool of $82,400. Online tournament grinders Joseph "MTstackin88" Spanne and Sebastian "p00cket00" Sikorski reached the six-handed final table, but "bennyblanko1tda" took the tournament down outright for $18,128.
More big names made the final table of Event #25, but once again, an unknown emerged victorious. Joseph "subiime" Cheong (3rd - $3,796) and Stephen "stevie444" Chidwick (5th - $1,898) fell just shy of victory in the $216 Five-Card Stud Six-Max event, and "Leqenden13" went on to claim $6,867 and the gold FTOPS jersey after agreeing to a heads-up deal with "bond25459."
The biggest winner on Tuesday was online player "Ladbrokes" who won event #26 for $45,770. The $19 buy-in no-limit hold'em event allowed players one rebuy and one add-on, and the 799 entrants generated a prize pool of $199,000, smashing the $60,000 guarantee.
With a second place finish in Event #25, "bond25459" took the overall lead in the FTOPS XXII Leaderboard race with 573 points. This player from Kazakhstan hasn't won an event during this series but has several final tables to his credit and now leads Christer "Betong" Johansson by 70 points in the standings. Other notables in contention for the top series honor are Karolis "karolis666" Grybauskas (7th - 415), Mark "xqsays" Radoja (8th - 390) and the aforementioned Sikorski (11th - 340).
