Day 13 of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) XXII saw two more champions crowned, leaving just five events to go before the series comes to a close. Longtime online poker grinder John "kleath" Leathart was among the winners on Friday, taking down event Event #32 for his first ever FTOPS title.
After weaving his way through 1,050 players, Leathart agreed to a heads-up deal with "puffypoker" before going on to win the event. The $19,830 score wasn't anywhere near the biggest of his FTOPS results (he finished runner-up in a $1,000 no-limit hold'em event in 2010 for $191,800), but Leathart finally picked up his first FTOPS jersey after making numerous final table without a win.
With the victory, Leathart moved into second place in the FTOPS XXII Leaderboard behind Poland's "galinka02," who held on to the top spot for the third straight day. Leathart had 690 points through Friday, trailing "galinka02" by 50. Other notables still in contention for the $11,000 leaderboard prize are Christer "Betong" Johansson (3rd - 669 points) and Mark "xqsays" Radoja (4th - 638 points).
The other winner on Friday was "fuhlsgold" who took down the only 2-7 triple draw event of the series. The $322 buy-in event attracted 157 players, meaning it failed to reach its $50,000 guaranteed prize pool. The aforementioned Johansson added some points to his leaderboard total by finishing 10th and well-known pro Kevin "kice32" Iacofano finished third for $6,500. "Fuhlsgold" won the heads-up duel against "Amoroso50," who collected $9,000 for the runner-up finish.
