Vanessa Selbst Joins partypoker Premier League VII Lineup

Vanessa Selbst

Partypoker announced Wednesday that Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst will join Tony G, Antonio Esfandiari, Phil Laak, Jeff Gross and others at the $125,000 buy-in partypoker.com Premier League Poker VII Main Event at the Playground Poker Club in Montreal from Nov. 20 through 26.

Selbst will make her second appearance at the Premier League. In 2011 she failed to score enough points in the preliminary rounds to qualify for the eight-handed final table, and will look to improve on that performance this year.

”I had so much fun playing the Premier League in 2011 — it’s such a fun, innovative, and mentally-challenging structure," Selbst told the partypoker Blog. I’m excited it has come to North America and thrilled to be able to play it again, especially in a new short-handed format.”

According to partypoker, the 12 players will be split into two groups of six, each competing in preliminary heats to earn a spot at the final table. The eventual winner will take home $350,000 and join the likes of Juha Helppi, Andy Black, JC Tran, David Benyamine, Scott Seiver and Dan Shak as champions of the prestigious event. Shak won the Premier League VI earlier this year for $450,000 after defeating Sam Trickett heads-up for the title.

Selbst, who boasts two World Series of Poker bracelets and several other major tournament titles, is on a bit of a heater of late — even for her. Last month shefinished second in the World Poker Tour Borgata Poker Open for $492,000, and this week she claimed victory in the UKIPT London High Roller for £67,499. Her total live tournament winnings eclipse $8 million, placing her 36th on the all-time money list at the young age of 29.

Anchoring the Premier League VII television coverage will be the lovely Kara Scott, and Jesse May will lead the commentary with several guest analysts joining him in the booth.
