The new partypoker World Poker Tour UK heads back to London on Feb. 27 for the third of five legs on its inaugural tour. When the tour last dropped anchor in London in October 2013, an impressive 510 entries were taken, but Apsers Casino Westfield hopes to beat that figure by guaranteeing a massive prize pool of £100,000 – all for a £200 buy-in.

The partypoker sponsored tour has been a major hit with recreational players and pros alike thanks in part to its unique accumulator format and the fact players get to sample the full WPT experience at a fraction of the cost.

What exactly is an accumulator tournament? We’ll leave it to Aspers Casino’s Poker Manager John Scanlon to explain the simple yet exciting concept to you:

“Players have the option to buy into one, two or all three of the Day 1 flights. At the end of each flight, we bag your chips and move them forward to Day 2. All chips from each flight are accumulated to give players their total starting stack for Day 2. The tournament is based on an innovative format from the Aussie Millions, where there was a big buzz amongst players about the best strategy to play. The structure is all about bringing more people into the game at various levels of buy-ins.”

In addition to the £200 (£180+£20) partypoker WPT National UK London Main Event, which runs Feb. 27 through March 2, Apsers is running three side events which are sure to be well attended and feature substantial prize pools despite their buy-in being aimed at the lower end of the spectrum.

The first leg of the partypoker WPT National UK tour took attracted 510 entries, creating a prize pool of £91,800. The largest share of that impressive sum found its way into the bank account of John Ventre who defeated the loose-aggressive Mohammed Suhail heads-up to scoop the £20,250 first place prize.

Milton Keynes’ Super Casino was the venue for the second leg that took place on the weekend before Christmas. John Gudger, who qualified online at partypoker for $3, outlasted the 292-strong crowd to get his hands on the perfect Christmas present — £12,750 in cash and the WPT National UK trophy.

Those of you wishing to emulate Gudger’s remarkable feat should head to partypoker today because satellites to the WPT National UK London Main Event are still available. Buy-ins start as low as $1.65 and increase to a still-affordable $33.
