Schedule Released for 2014 Borgata Spring Poker Open 0001

The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa has released the schedule for the 2014 Borgata Spring Open. The 51-event series will take place from April 8 through 26, highlighted by the $15,400 World Poker Tour Championship.

The WPT Championship hits the Jersey Shore for the first time after spending the first 11 seasons at Bellagio in Las Vegas. Also for the first time, the buy-in for the tournament will be lowered from $25,000 to $15,400, and re-entries will be permitted on the second Day 1 flight if a player busts on Day 1a.

The WPT Championship will be sponsored by partypoker and features a $5 million guaranteed prize pool.

"With Borgata’s well-deserved reputation for running world-class tournaments and providing unparalleled service to its players, we believe this venue is perfectly suited to host our season-culminating event," said WPT President Adam Pliska. "We look forward to working with the team at Borgata to bring the WPT World Championship to new heights."

The 2014 Borgata Spring Poker Open kicks off on April 8 with a massive $560 event with a $1 million guaranteed prize pool. The series-opening tournament will allow re-entries during the three starting flights. Last month, the $560 opening event of the Borgata Winter Poker open attracted 4,812 runners before the tournament was canceled by staff due to the discovery of counterfeit chips.

Other high-profile events on the Spring Poker Open schedule include a $2,700 BSO Championship Event ($1 million guarantee); a $1,090 Six-Max No-Limit Hold'em Re-Entry ($100,000 guaranteed); and a $300 Big Stack No-Limit Hold'em Re-Entry ($100,000 guaranteed).

The schedule also includes more than a dozen qualifiers to the BSO Championship and WPT Championship. Players can win a seat into the WPT Championship for as little as $360 and have a chance to compete against the very best poker players in the world.
