PokerNews to Live Report HPO St. Louis $1,800 Main Event Starting Tomorrow 0001

Starting Saturday, March 15, PokerNews will be live reporting the Hollywood Poker Open Regional Tournament Series $1,800 Main Event from the Hollywood Casino St. Louis. The property has been playing host to a 30-event schedule, which has set the stage for an exciting climax.

Among those who’ve already found success in St. Louis are Bruce Balling (Event #1: $300 NLHE), Robert Pryzgoda (Event #6: $300 NLHE), and Gary Lambert (Event #7: $125 NLHE), Josh Turner (Event #9: $240 NLHE), and David Beckerle (Event #10: $125 NLHE).

Likewise, former European Poker Tour Copenhagen champ and St. Louis local Tim Vance has been spotted playing throughout the week, as has HPO ambassador and 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Chris Moneymaker.

“It’s fantastic to have Chris on board with the HPO brand. I couldn’t ask for a better name to have associated with the tour,” said HPO Director Bill Bruce. “Chris really takes his role seriously, and it’s been a pleasure to have him promoting the stops and committing to playing in the Regionals. It should signal to the players that Penn Gaming and the Hollywood Poker Open are serious about poker. If you look at what the HPO is doing, it should be evident that this is something that poker players are going to want to participate in and even promote.”

In preparation for the St. Louis stop, Moneymaker recently sat down with Fox2Now. Watch that interview here:

The winner of the HPO St. Louis Main Event will receive an entry into the season-ending $500,000 guaranteed HPO Championship Event at the M Resort Las Vegas. In Season 1, Ana Marquez topped a field of 631 players — which included over 200 HPO qualifiers — to win the fist-ever $2,500 HPO Championship Event for $320,189. In addition, the player who tops the HPO St. Louis leaderboard will also be awarded a seat.

Located just 20 minutes from the downtown area, the Hollywood Casino St. Louis offers plenty of gaming options including 2,160 slot and video poker machines, 59 table games, and a 21-table poker room.

In addition to the Regional Tournament series, HPO properties are running promotions that award seats into the Championship Event at M Resort. For complete information, please visit the HPO website.
