Viktor Blom and Gus Hansen to Battle in "Heads Up Showdown" at Full Tilt Poker

Heads Up Showdown

Things are going to get serious at Full Tilt Poker in September. Two icons of the game and members of the room's Pro Team, Gus Hansen and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom, will sit together at the virtual felt to engage in an exciting challenge called the Heads Up Showdown.

The event, which is scheduled to begin at 14:15 (ET) on Sunday, Sept. 14, will see the two players go to battle for a $50,000 prize that Full Tilt will award to the winner of what will surely be a heads-up duel to remember.

"I skipped Vegas and the European Poker Tour in Barcelona this summer, so it feels to have something big coming up," said Blom. "This Heads Up Showdown against Gus is going to be really cool, especially as there's more than money on the line."

The Heads Up Showdown is going to be a best-of-three battle that will test both players on three different poker variants.

First, the competition will start with a game of stud 8 (chosen by Hansen), and then the two will play a game of no-limit 2-7 triple draw (chosen by Blom). After a winner is determined in the second leg of the challenge, the duo will move to play a conclusive game that is going to be decided with a public vote on the Full Tilt blog.

While the winner will get to leave the table $50,000 richer, the loser will be obliged to seek redemption by either playing 1,000 hands of micro-stakes Razz or record and publish a video in which he sings his opponent's national anthem.

Guess the winner and win a share of $50,000

As part of the Heads Up Showdown, Full Tilt has decided to organize two different promotions that will put off the chance to play freerolls for a piece of a $50,000 and a $635 Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) Main Event ticket.

To be eligible for the freerolls, players will have to make a deposit of $20 (or more) and earn as little as 50 Full Tilt Points between Aug. 28 and Sept. 7.

Every Full Tilt member who meets these two simple requirements will be given a special ticket to join either the $10,000 Gus Supporters Freeroll or the $10,000 Viktor Supporters Freeroll running at 14:15 (ET) on Monday, Sept. 13.

And that's not all! Once the Heads Up Showdown has a winner, all those who picked the winner of the supporters' freeroll will get an extra ticket to play in a special $30,000 Heads Up Showdown Flip Freeroll at 14:15 (ET) on Monday, Sept. 15.

In addition to all this, all the players that find the time to log in at Full Tilt and follow the action of the Heads Up Showdown will automatically be entered into a special prize drawing that will award a lucky winner with a $635 FTOPS Main Event ticket.
