Online Registration Now Open for World Series of Poker Asia-Pacific Events 0001

In one month, the World Series of Poker will host the second edition of the WSOP Asia-Pacific, which will take place at Australia’s Crown Casino Melbourne and feature 10 gold bracelet events from Oct. 2-18. In preparation for the tournament series, players are now able to register online via Crown Poker's website.

With buy-ins ranging from as low as AU$1,100 up to AU$25,000, the series will kick off on Oct. 2 with the AU$1,100 No-Limit Hold'em Accumulator, but the cornerstone tournament of the series will be the AU$10,000 Main Event, which will have two starting days and begin on Oct. 12. As previously reported, PokerNews will be on hand to bring poker fans live updates from all 10 events.

PokerNews is extremely excited to once again work in partnership with both the World Series of Poker and Crown Melbourne, this time for the 2014 WSOP Asia-Pacific,” said PokerNews Editor-in-Chief Donnie Peters. “Last year saw five gold bracelets awarded Down Under, and five more have been added to the schedule for 2014. This will without a doubt make the WSOP Asia-Pacific bigger and better by attracting more players and more big names to the festival. With poker superstars Phil Ivey and Daniel Negreanu amongst those to win gold last year, anticipation is high once again, and PokerNews couldn’t be happier to be the official live updates provider.”

Last year, Negreanu won the Main Event for or AU$1,038,825 and his fifth gold bracelet on his way to becoming the 2013 WSOP Player of the Year. Since this year’s WSOP APAC will see the culmination of the 2014 WSOP Player of the Year race, many players are expected to make the trip including Negreanu, who sits fourth on the POY leaderboard; as well as Brandon Shack-Harris and George Danzer, who currently sit first and second, respectively.

"Bigger and better is the best way to describe the 2014 WSOP Asia-Pacific," said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart. "New events at modest price points like the Dealer's Choice and Terminator No-Limit Hold’em, plus an expansion of overall events and a move to springtime in Melbourne is designed to encourage the North American and European contingent to make this a can’t-miss event. Plus, we have secured the most comprehensive live television coverage in both the U.S. and Australia for both the Main Event and High Roller."

“Crown Casino is always a busy place, but there really is no excuse to be shut out this year. The WSOP and Crown Melbourne are prepared to help you book your trip to Australia, and online registration means you won’t have to wait in long lines or be forced to wait as an alternate,” Peters concluded. “As someone who’s been to hundreds of poker tournaments across the globe, there really is no place like Crown Casino and this is a stop you must not miss.”
