MSPT to Host $360 Buy-In $100K GTD & $200K GTD Main Event at Golden Gates in Colorado

For the fourth stop of its sixth season, the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) is heading back to Golden Gates Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado for two feature tournaments. From March 5-8, an affordable $360 buy-in, $100,000 guarantee tournament will take place, which will be followed by a $1,100 buy-in, $200,000 guarantee Main Event from Thursday, March 12 through Sunday, March 15.

"The MSPT is excited to return Golden Gates Casino for the third time," said MSPT owner and operator Bryan Mileski. "We'll kick things off by offering players a shot at a guaranteed $100,000 prize pool for just $360, and then of course there will be the Main Event, which will feature three starting flights and undoubtedly crush the guarantee."

Indeed, in the first two visits to the property, the MSPT Main Event has crushed the guarantee. Back in November, 500 entrants turned up and created a $485,000 prize pool, and the stop last March attracted 453 entrants and created a $453,000 prize pool. Reza Yazdi and Dan Colpoys won those events for $120,765 and $114,156 respectively.

Also of note, last year's November event marked the return of beloved poker pro Kevin "Phwap" Boudreau to tournament poker. Boudreau had suffered a traumatic brain injury the year before, and while his road to recovery continues, he managed to finish in fourth place for $34,678. It ended up being one of poker's best feel-good stories of the year.

The main event will be held over four days beginning Thursday with Day 1a at 12 p.m. Day 1a will play 15 levels. Friday and Saturday's Day 1b and 1c will also start at 12 p.m. and play 15 levels. Players who advance to Day 2 from a previous flight are not eligible to play in a subsequent flight. However, players are allowed to reenter the Main Event once each starting flight during standard registration process (i.e. one reentry allowed per starting flight).
