PokerStars-Branded Debit Card Launches in the UK

PokerStars debit Card Launches in UK

Deposits and withdrawals just got much easier for poker players in the UK, as the SafeCharge International Group launched a brand new PokerStars-branded prepaid MasterCard.

Through the new StarsCard, players will get the opportunity to use "a free and well-protected web and mobile account that can be funded by vouchers (available at retail stores), bank transfer, or a debit card," a note sent to the press stated. "The StarsCard is integrated to PokerStars and can be used to deposit and cashout directly to and from a player's PokerStars account."

Launched in the UK one week ago, the StarsCard is a longterm project that the cooperation between the Dublin-based SafeCharge International Group and the poker room hope to replicate in more countries during the coming months.

"StarsCard allows PokerStars customers to have a single point of deposit that combines all the convenience of existing options, but with additional features for cashing out, spending and sending money to friends and family. StarsCard can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted."

Even if this may not be the primary use of the newly-launched StarsCard, this new product may help some players to avoid unpleasant episodes like the one that occurred in Germany only a few weeks ago, when a bank denied an Italian player the possibility to cash online poker winnings of $60,000.

The one launched in the UK, however, is not PokerStars' first attempt to a branded debit card, as a similar product is already available in Italy thanks to cooperation between the room and the country's CartaLIS IMEL.
