MSPT Team Pro Blake Bohn on WSOP Main Event Run: "I Don't Want to Regret My Decisions"
Do you know who Minnesota's all-time money leader is? If you guess Lyle Berman, you're right. He has $2,674,432 in lifetime winnings, which is a good bit ahead of Blake Bohn, who sits in second with $1,961,111. However, if Bohn, who is still alive with 31 players remaining, can somehow finish 10th or better in the 2015 World Series of Poker Main Event, he will take over the top spot.
Bohn may not be known around the world, but he has positioned himself as one of the most familiar faces on the Midwest circuit; in fact, he is the Lead Pro for the Mid-States Poker Tour. Bohn's nearly $2 million in lifetime earnings is especially impressive considering his biggest score ever was just $288,171, which came after he took down the 2013 Chicago Poker Classic.
As for the WSOP, Bohn's best cash was $281,049 for a runner-up finish to Jonathan Taylor in the 2013 WSOP Event #14: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em. Other notables cashes include seventh in the 2014 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open Main Event for $249,438; fifth in the 2014 World Poker Tour Borgata Open Main Event for $213,999; and $54,607 for taking down the 2014 MSPT Sioux Falls, marking his first victory on the tour he represents.

If Bohn hopes to overtake Berman, he'll need some luck as he's on the shorter side of things. Then again, he began the 69 players who returned for Day 6 in 54th place with 1.41 million. Still, he's been able to hold his own.
"The day has been pretty uneventful," Bohn told PokerNews on the last break of the day. "I've had between 13-26 big blinds, which is considered short, but what the average player, or what I know, it's two-hour levels, so you're really not all that short. We're not playing 40 minutes, we're not playing an hour, we're playing two hours, so my chips have a lot of value."
Bohn continued: "I spoke with a couple of close friends who said don't worry about your chip counts. You don't have to reshove with AxJx or something because the book says that's what you're supposed to do, so I've tried to be patient. Now my image at the table, they think I'm the tightest play on earth, which is so far removed from who I am, which is great."
We all dream of getting in this spot, and I just hope that I don’t let it slip through my fingers.
Indeed, anyone who knows Bohn – such as a big contingent of fans back home in the Twin Cities – knows that he is extremely aggressive. It's his "go big or go home" style that has grinders from across the Midwest both admire and fear.
"It's been unbelievable, overwhelming support," Bohn said of the well wishes he's been receiving each and every day. "We all dream of getting in this spot, and I just hope that I don’t let it slip through my fingers. I don't want to regret my decisions, so I'm trying to take my time and do the best that I can."
While Bohn has been taking it one level at a time, even he admits making the November Nine is on his mind.
"It'd be life changing, for sure," said Bohn. "Even though we're only 22 players away, it doesn't seem real right now. I've been so focused. We've been playing 12-14 hours a day. Sleep, get up, push repeat, so right now it's not sinking in, but my plan is to be there."
Only time will tell if Bohn's dream will come true, but one thing's for sure, there are a bunch of players back home pulling for him, except for maybe Lyle Berman.
