Tonybet Poker, the world's largest online open-face Chinese (OFC) poker site, is now available to players in Denmark, the company said in a statement sent to PokerNews last week. One year after the launch of the platform, the room is now officially able to accept Danish players and becomes the first site to offer legal OFC poker games in the country.

"It wasn't an easy process, but we're proud to be finally able to announce the good news – online open-face Chinese poker is now available in Denmark," said TonyBet's representative Sune Hansen.

The launch of the online platform, however, is only the first step of a long-term strategy for the promotion of OFC poker games in Denmark.

"We're also already looking for venues to host the first big live OFC poker event in Denmark," Hansen continued. "Launching our online OFC poker site in Denmark is only the beginning."

"We have big plans for the future. We are also already looking for venues to host the first big live OFC poker event in Denmark.

"We have big plans for the future, involving special tournaments, promotions, and even live events in Denmark," Hansen explained. "We've been receiving a lot of requests from our players on when is open-face Chinese going to be available in Denmark, and now it's finally here. Today is a big day for us as well as the Danish poker community."

By entering the Danish market, Tonybet joins one of the best-performing poker industries in Europe. As reported on PokerNews earlier this year, the official data released by the Danish Gambling Authority (Spillemyndigheden) show that the country's domestic market generated DKK 7.75 billion ($1.1 billion) in gross gaming revenue during 2014, representing a two-percent growth from the DKK 7.575 billion that was estimated in 2013, and a three-percent growth from the DKK 7.5 billion that was estimated in 2012.

To date, Denmark counts thirteen licensed online poker sites active in the country. Prior to Tonybet Poker, other international operators like PokerStars, Full Tilt, Unibet, partypoker, betfair, and PKR had already invested in a license to offer their games to Danish players.

The launch of Tonybet Poker is also a step to consolidate the group's position in the Scandinavian country, as Tonybet has already been offering their sports betting and casino gambling in the country since May 2013.
