Former PokerNews Hostess Lynn Gilmartin Wins Largest Ever EPT Women's Event

Sarah Herring and Lynn Gilmartin

The eyes of the poker world are fixated on Spain this week as the 2015 European Poker Tour Barcelona festival is in full swing. While the PokerNews team is on hand for live coverage of the four marquee events — the €50,000 Super High Roller, the €5,300 Main Event, the €25,500 Single-Day High Roller, and the €10,300 High Roller — it was the €220 Women's Event that became the focus of attention on Sunday evening.

With a record-breaking field size of 148 entries, a prize pool of €28,712 was generated. According to PokerStars' Live Events Specialist Neil Johnson, this proved the largest women's event in EPT history. When it came down to the end, two Australian's were left to battle for the title, with none other than former PokerNews hostess and producer Lynn Gilmartin coming out on top.

Gilmartin battled her way through a tough field before facing Heather Dorado in heads-up action. Now a television anchor for the World Poker Tour on Fox Sports, Gilmartin hoisted the trophy above her head and scored a first-place payday of €5,890.

No stranger to the camera, an elated Gilmartin spoke with Sarah Herring after her win.
