WPT Alpha8 Returns w/ $100K Event at Bellagio During Five Diamond World Poker Classic 0001

The WPT Alpha8 hasn't held a stop since January's stop at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Florida, but the tour's extended absence will come to an end at the end of the year. That's because the World Poker Tour has announced the WPT Alpha8 will return in December during the Five Diamond World Poker Classic at the iconic Bellagio in Las Vegas.

The WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic festival runs from December 4-19, and will include a total of 19 events, including the $100,000 televised WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas and the $10,400 WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic Main Event.

"World Poker Tour is proud to return to Bellagio, home to our very first televised event, for the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic and WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas," said WPT President Adam Pliska. "Coupling these two marquee events during Season XIII produced tremendous results, with the combined prize pool exceeding $11 million and three players earning more than $1 million. All of the action in both tournaments will be captured by the WPT cameras, and we look forward to crowning two new champions at the epicenter of poker this December."

It is exciting to once again host the world’s greatest players and the high-limit poker action that lights up the Las Vegas strip.

Last year, Mohsin Charania topped a field of 586 entries to win the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $1,477,890, while the WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas – which attracted a record-breaking 55 entries generated a prize pool of nearly $5.4 million – saw Andrew Lichtenberger defeat his good friend Tom Marchese to capture a $2,104,245 first-place prize. Registration for WPT Alpha8 Las Vegas will be open until the start of Level 7, and players are allowed unlimited re-entries.

"We are proud to continue to host the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic and WPT Alpha8," said Craig Lumpp, Director of Poker Operations at Bellagio. "This event is so rich in tradition that every serious player looks to cap off their year here at Bellagio. It is exciting to once again host the world’s greatest players and the high-limit poker action that lights up the Las Vegas strip."
