Alex Kostritsyn

Some big news sprung out of the online poker realm last weekend when Mustapha "lasagnaaammm" Kanit won the Sunday Supersonic, a hyper-turbo tournament that takes around two hours from start to finish, for $47,999.89. That translates to an hourly rate of $34,285.63. You can read about that story by clicking here.

Meanwhile, when it comes to the high-stakes cash-game action on PokerStars, you'll learn everything you need to know in this week's Online Railbird Report.

As for winners, no one did better than Alexander "joiso" Kostritsyn, who won $209,263 in 5,253 hands over 47 sessions. Others to finish in the black were Timofey "Trueteller" Kuznetsov (+$134,767 in 21 sessions/1,468 hands) and "Cobus83" (+$96,328 in 32 sessions/1,716 hands).

On the flip side, Mike "gordo16" Gorodinsky was the biggest loser of the week after dropping $175,965 in 1,956 hands over 22 sessions. Likewise, it was a bad week for Daniel "w00ki3z." Cates (-$164,382 in 35 sessions/3,775 hands), "wilhasha" (-$119,086 in 43 sessions/3,210 hands), and Sami "LrsLzk" Kelopuro (-$99,784 in 45 sessions/3,702 hands).

"n0d1ceb4by" Wins Big; Blom Inspires Action

On Thursday, March 3, "n0d1ceb4by" finished as the biggest winner of the day after banking $116,600 at the $100/$200 pot-limit Omaha tables, which attracted players thanks to the presence of Viktor "Isildur1" Blom.

According to HighStakesDB, "n0d1ceb4by" played at three tables in the late morning into early afternoon and wound up the game's only six-figure winner. In the biggest pot of the day, action was four-handed when Blom ($32,196.38) opened for $600 under the gun and Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies ($10,279.33) folded the button. "n0d1ceb4by" ($54,751.09) called from the small blind, Dan "d2themfi" Isaacson ($9,080) did the same from the big, and three players took a flop of 6103.

All three players checked, and then "n0d1ceb4by" checked the J turn. Isaacson bet $1,795, Blom called, and "n0d1ceb4by" check-raised to $8,975. Isaacson called off for $8,680, Blom came along, and the 9 peeled off on the river.

"n0d1ceb4by" checked and then quickly called when Blom move all in for $22,621.38. Isaacson held the JJQ4 for top set, but it was no good as both his opponents held flushes, though "n0d1ceb4by's" A754 bested the KQ62 of Blom. Ship the $73,372.76 pot to "n0d1ceb4by."

Meanwhile, Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky won $72,400 in the game, while Blom went on to square off against Kostritsyn in a nine-hour $400/$800 8-Game match which saw the Swede take the Russian for $155,000, which helped him mitigate his PLO losses and allowed him to finish the day up $35,000.

Kostritsyn Saturday's Biggest Winner, But Blom Wins Biggest Pot

On Saturday, March 5, Kostritsyn finished atop the daily leaderboard after winning $192,300 over 735 hands at the $1,000/$2,000 8-game tables against the likes of Blom, Gorodinsky, and Rafi "rafaelamit" Amit.

Viktor "Isildur1" Blom

Speaking of Blom, he actually won the biggest pot of the day. It happened during heads-up play between Blom ($34,795.14) and Kostritsyn ($38,694.02) when the latter opened for $1,500 and the latter called to see a 9K4 flop.

Kostritsyn proceeded to check-call a bet of $2,000 and then check-called one of $5,500 on the 3 turn. When the A completed the board on the river, Kostritsyn checked for a third time but still called when Blom moved all in for $25,795.14. Blom tabled the AA for top set, and it was good enough to win the $69,590.28 pot as Kostritsyn simply mucked his cards.

Blom Returns To His Winning Ways with $130,800 Thursday Win

According to HighStakesDB, Blom had his first six-figure score in over a month after he won $130,800 playing $400/$800 8-game on Thursday afternoon. Blom only sat at one table, but he played for 831 hands over eight hours against tough competition including Amit, Kuznetsov, and Mikael "ChaoRen160" Thuritz, just to name a few.

Blom got off to a strong start and played the entire match in profit. In the biggest pot of the day, which took place five-handed in a round of $100/$200 PLO, Cates ($20,371.68) opened for $700 under the gun and "calvin7v" ($14,567.50) called from the button. Blom ($36,966.50) then three-bet to $30,000 from the small blind, both the other players called, and the flop came down 3A5.

Blom checked, Cates bet $3,800, and "calvin7v" called. Blom then check-raised to $24,395 and Cates called off his remaining $13,571.68 before "calvin7v" did the same for $7,767.50.

"calvin7v": Q897
Cates: K652
Blom: AAJ2

Both "calvin7v" and Cates flopped flush draws — the latter's being the best — but Blom was out ahead with a set holding the AAJ2. The triumvirate opted to run it twice, and the 7 turn on the first run gave Cates the best flush. Unfortunately for him, it was followed by the 3 river, which paired the board and gave Blom half the $55,510.86 pot with a aces full.

Neither the Q turn nor K river on the second run changed a thing, and Blom was also awarded the second half of the pot.
