The Online Railbird Report: Jedlicka Wins $216,000 in Quiet Summer Month

Niki Jedlicka

It's been a long summer in which the poker world was mostly focused on the action in Las Vegas. The World Series of Poker made for some quiet months at the high stakes online, but now that the WSOP has come to a close the action is slowly picking up pace.

The player who won the most online this recent month is Austrian pro Nikolaus "Niki" Jedlicka, according to online tracking site HighStakesDB. Jedlicka played a total of 7,610 hands on PokerStars under the monicker of "RealAndyBeal" and made $216,410, almost $28.50 per hand played. That catapulted him to +$258,750 total for the year, though he's still $443.202 in the red overall on that account during his lifetime.

Jedlicka famously went on a once-in-a-lifetime heater on Full Tilt Poker back in 2007. Playing under the screen name "KaiBuxxe" he went from down $426,000 to plus $4,030,000 in a single month. It didn't take long for Full Tilt Poker to sign him as a Red Pro, which would ultimately prove to be his downfall. Under his new account "Niki Jedlicka" he lost month after month, ultimately finishing down $3.837.844 which he's documented himself, calling it the "red pro curse."

We've combined the three known accounts into a single graph to give you an idea about the enormous swings Jedlicka has endured in his poker career. It should be noted that the compiled data is not conclusive as only $25/$50 and up are registered and not all hands are tracked.

Last Week's Biggest Pots Online

The three biggest pots of the week all came from a five-handed $200/$400 no limit hold'em game.

1) "OtB_RedBaron" Wins a $89,127 Pot (223 big blinds) versus "Katya_18"
($200/$400 NLH 5-handed)

High stakes regular "Katya_18" opened for $1,200 from under the gun and action folded to "OtB_RedBaron" in the small blind. The Belgian player made it $5,036 and big blind "candela2005" folded. "Katya_18" made the call to create a pot of $10,472.

The flop came 1064 and "OtB_RedBaron" followed his preflop aggression with a continuation bet worth $4,082.13. "Katya_18" called in position, growing the pot to $18,636.26.

The 7 hit on the turn and and this time around "OtB_RedBaron" checked his option. "Katya_18" made a small bet worth $5,500 and "OtB_RedBaron" called.

The Q completed the board and "OtB_RedBaron", with just under pot behind, checked for the second time in a row. "Katya_18" made a bet big enough to put "OtB_RedBaron" all in, and the call by "OtB_RedBaron" for $29,745.32 followed immediately.

"OtB_RedBaron" showed 1010 for the flopped set while "Katya_18" had nothing but ace-high with AK.

2) Sergio "VeGeTTo89" Martí Wins $70,470 Pot (176 big blinds) versus "candela2005"
($200/$400 NLH 5-handed)

Martí opened the button to $1,120 and the small blind was quick to fold. Big blind "candela2005" made the call, however, and the two saw a flop of J38 with $2,040 in the middle.

"candela2005" checked and Martí bet $1,600. "candela2005" check-raised to $4,800 and Martí three-bet to $12,800. "candela2005" moved all in for $33,615 total and Martí made the call.

"candela2005" would have had more than 31% equity if he were up against any other flopped flush, but Martí's straight flush draw took away the Q and 7 as outs which resulted in just a 23% chance of winning the pot.

The 7 on the turn and Q on the river were effectively blanks and the pot went to Martí.

3) "candela2005" Wins a $52,147 Pot (130 big blinds) versus Nikita "fish2013" Bodyakovskiy
($200/$400 NLH 5-handed)

"OtB_RedBaron" made it $800 to go from first position, and his neighbor "candela2005" made the call from the cutoff. The button and small blind both folded, but big blind Nikita "fish2013" Bodyakovskiy made the call to make it three-handed.

With $2,600 in the middle and 42K on the flop, Bodyakovskiy checked. Initial raiser "OtB_RedBaron" continued for $596.85 and "candela2005" made the call. Bodyakovskiy then check-raised to $3,600, and just "candela2005" made the call as "OtB_RedBaron" folded.

The A hit the turn and Bodyakovskiy fired $6,442 into $10,396.85. "candela2005" called, growing the pot to $23,282.

With the 4 completing the board, Bodyakovskiy bet $14,432.19, leaving himself $14,724.87 behind. "candela2005" shoved all in for $12,725 more ($27,157.19). Bodyakovskiy laid it down.

The 2016 Leaderboard

The top three biggest winners this year remain unchanged from last month. Both Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky and Andres "Educa-p0ker" Artinano won a little bit to strengthen their position as the two money-winning leaders this year, while Dani "supernova9" Stern dropped just a bit.

Both Viktor "Isildur1" Blom and Alex "Kanu7" Millar booked small wins over the past month, but that didn't prevent them from taking the top spots on the list of this year's biggest losing players according to HighStakesDB.com. "Flong78" has left the Top 3 after opting out of reporting, and that position is now taken by "candela2005."
