WSOP Day 7: Elezra Leads $10K Omaha Hi-Lo, Hennigan Ahead in Dealer’s Choice
In a day that saw the Colossus Day 1 flights come to an end, three-time bracelet winners Eli Elezra blasted off to a big lead in the $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo Championship, with Paul Volpe, Robert Mizrachi, and Mike Matusow also advancing to the second day of action.
The $1,500 Dealers Choice attracted a big field of pros too, with four-time bracelet winner John Hennigan taking the lead. On top of that, Day 7 brings two more events with some lowball action and No Limit Hold’em.
Event #7: COLOSSUS - $565 No-Limit Hold'em
After six starting flights over three days, players will return on Tuesday to commence with the second day of action. On Monday, Kurt Jewell ended as the Day 1e chip leader with 474,000. That flight attracted 3,202 entries with 127 advancing to Day 2. The Day 1f flight attracted 2,855 later in the day with 133 advancing. Brian Ray led 1f with 351,000 chips.
Through all flights, there were 13,071 entries with 539 players advancing to play Tuesday. Other names remaining include Kathy Liebert (73,000), Matt Stout (91,000), David Bach (261,000), Tyler Patterson (238,000), Jesse Sylvia (63,000), Alex Foxen (268,000), John Racener (270,000), 2009 WSOP Main Event Champion Joe Cada (88,000), Kevin Eyster (307,000), Barry Shulman (160,000), Scott Montgomery (103,000), Justin Liberto (164,000), and 2010 WSOP Main Event Champion Jonathan Duhamel (118,000). Even 10-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Ivey played flight 1d and bagged 63,000 chips.
Going forward on Day 2, blind levels increase to an hour and a champion should be crowned on Thursday. That winner will not only take home a bracelet, but a $1 million top prize as well. Event #9: $10,000 Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship
The split-pot action continued on Monday with several big names and bracelet winners still in the field. After Day 2, Eli Elezra leads the final 22 players with 858,000 chips. The 169 total entries created a prize pool of $1,588,600. First place for the event will take home a prize of $417,921 and a gold bracelet.
Rounding out the top five include Adam Coats (617,000), Steve Chanthabouasy (609,000), Daniel Zack (571,000), and Jesse Martin (479,000). Others returning include Felipe Ramos (401,000), Paul Volpe (372,000), Robert Mizrachi (258,000), and Mike Matusow (234,000),

Event #12: $1,500 Dealers Choice 6-Handed
With 18 games allowed in this one, players don’t have much room for error. After the first day of action, four-time bracelet winner John Hennigan leads the remaining 120 players with 89,800 chips. Rounding out the top five: Andrey Zhigalov (85,275), Xunen Zheng (69,950), Luke Saltus (61,875), Joey Couden (59,325), and Jeff Lisandro (58,025).
Others advancing to the second day of action include Craig Chait (50,825), David Funkhouser (50,825), Shirley Rosario (46,550), Chris Vitch (42,025), and Layne Flack (23,175). Last year’s champion David Bach was eliminated on Day 1 after two entries. The event attracted 406 entries for a prize pool of $548,100.

Event #13: Big Blind Antes $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em
The big blind ante has been in the news quite a bit lately as more tournaments begin to adopt the format. The WSOP has also added it to the mix in a few tournaments this year.
This new three-day event kicks off at 11 a.m. and should make for a big field with plenty of Hold’em fans looking for something a little different – and a bracelet. Registration is open for some time, so if players bust the COLOSSUS, they might hop into this one. Event #14: $1,500 No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw
Fans of lowball games should be sure to make it the Rio for this one. This tournament is offered at the WSOP’s lower price point, but also allows for one re-entry.
Frank Kassela took home the bracelet and $89,151 in 2017. The win earned the Chicago native his third bracelet. Kassela also has a bracelet in another lowball game, winning the $2,500 Razz event in 2010.
