We all are aware of the political climate reshaping the on-line poker community in which we participate these days. There are rooms that no longer allow certain players from certain parts of the globe to play due to legislation or security. For whatever reason these rooms have their issues the market tends to open doors for others to take advantage of ready business.
Now as I tend to go on and on I'm going to start using some colorful examples in my whine. I tend to ramble, but in the spirit of trying to keep it interesting while I try and make a point please observe that some points are purely for comedic entertainment.
I guess to be fair to all parties involved I will withhold the names and just focus on the matter that has me pizzed off to the highest point of pizztivity.
I was a participant in an event this passed weekend that put up several leagues in a spirited contest of bragging rights. It was a standard no limit hold em tournament with all of the usual characters. The all in guy was there. The guy that's so tight only a dog could hear him float an air biscuit was there. The anything suited guy showed up and he brought the any two cards play guy to the party. The observer and the strategic pot thief even made their presence known.
As sometimes happens the tournament was hampered by more than the human land mines. The B-52 loaded with net bombs decided to get in on it and drop a deuce on the event. Technology brings us all together like free beer, and it can separate us just as quick like Loraina Bobbett when she wants to tell her old man she'd like to see other people.
Well these things happen. Now there is the issue of what to do for the customer. The little people that make the world go around with the money that the business so desperately wants to accumulate. This business recognized that they were a large part of the error and decided to play it straight. They selected 100 people and decided to give them an exclusive event to give them another shot at competing for the bragging rights. They also decided the only fair thing to do was to pay each one equally for the event that was just played.
Every thing's hunky dory a ok right? Well there were several customers that were left unaware of the settlement. When the cool winds of good news started to blow they immediately sought answers to their standing. Some were rewarded instantly and treated like the great little cash cows they are, while others were left in limbo like the dumb fat kid still waiting for the school bus 25 minutes after it already passed his stop.
Three days later some of these customers got a response to their many many emails. The response was vague and made them feel as important to the business as the parsley sprig on a plate at the local diner. Yeah it's important enough to make the plate pretty by being a part of the presentation, but it really has no value as a food source.
So the customer is left to wonder why should I do business with a business that doesn't seem to care. The customer keeps hearing how great it is for everybody else and how great they have been treated. The customer looks back and thinks about the fact that they never got any consideration at all in several instances with this business.
So this customers question to you is "Is customer service important to you from a business that wants to offer you a product or service?"
