I just downloaded poker770 and am going through the process of qualifiying for the freeroll.
I noticed there was also a $600 first deposit bonus, so I thought I would deposit $600 to qualify for it.
Well they declined it.
I rang my bank who said there was nothing wrong with my card and that the problem was with poker770.
I emailed poker770 who told me to check with my bank.
I emailed them back saying I had already checked with my bank and the problem is with them.
They told me to deposit a smaller amount.
I emailed them back and said I wanted to take advantage of the whole $600 first deposit bonus, and why should i do a smaller amount.
They didn't email back.
I tried a smaller amount, $599, which also didn't work. A message comes up that I have exceeded the deposit amount for my account.
I emailed them again and asked what is wrong.
They emailed me back and sayed there was "nothing inconvenient" at their site.
I went apeshit and sent them an abusive email telling them they were all spastics.
I don't think I will be playing this freeroll.

usually this depends on your credit card... anyway, deposit 20$ and see you at the table!

I'm using Mastercard.
They rang me after my email, presumably they would have anyway to check I am a real person.
They also emailed me again and asked me to try again, so I did and it didn't work so I emailed them back again and told them. The message actually says to contact support and have my account limit increased, it's as if it won't allow a $600 deposit due to my account settings and not my bank. The actual wording is...
"Sorry, but your transaction has been declined as your account limit has been reached. Please try a smaller amount or contact support at support@poker770.com to increase your limits. Good luck!"
Like I said, I did contact my bank and they assure me that there is no problem with my card, and my card has always worked at other sites so I can't really believe that there is any problem with my card.
Anyway they got back to me and said they have moved my banking details to another platform, however, I am now outside the 24 hour limit to deposit to qualify for the freeroll, so I've emailed them and told them that there is really no point in me depositing any more ( I can get their 1st deposit bonus later if I really want to I suppose).
It looks like I have missed the freeroll.
Also, if I get this stressed dealing with support about trying to deposit money, I really couldn't take it when I get another problem later after I have made the deposit.
The support staff seem to have no problem solving skills at all, other than to keep saying "try a lesser amount". For me to do that, I really require some sort of reason for me to use a lesser amount, they advertised a $600 bonus.

So what's the deal with this freeroll? I logged into Poker770 just before the tournament started and a message popped up saying the tournament was cancelled. Is there going to be a make-up tournament? I don't understand the need to set the minimum number of players to 100. The majority of PokerNews freerolls I've played have had less than 100 players. I thought the whole idea of these freerolls being offered in the first place was so that it consisted of a small field of players.

Hi,
I have only just been informed that this freeroll was cancelled.
We certainly do not set minimum player requirements on our freerolls, and are in the process of contacting Poker770 to find out exactly what happened.
We will be requesting that the freeroll be rescheduled, and hope to inform everyone soon.

Received an email from Poker770 saying that the tournament is happening on November 4 at 16h30 (poker room time). I checked to make sure and it's definitely there, however they've gone and set the mininum players to 100 again! Which was the whole reason the tournament did not run in the first place. Looks like we can look forward to another freeroll being cancelled...

dear Cory-Ann,
if so, why the tournament has been rescheduled for tomorrow November 4 and still there is a minimum number of player requested? Can you check? Can you do something?

We want to explain what had happened about this freeroll being canceled. There were put few restrictions that allowed very few players to enter (pokernews players with a deposit made).
Now everything was changed - no restrictions except the password. So, this is why finally we had more than 800 players registered.
11-05-2007 02:42
Is this a good thing though? I mean, if the tournament wasn't restricted to Pokernews players then it's not exactly exclusive is it? A field of 800 players isn't really enticing when there's only one prize involved. I almost didn't even bother playing when I saw how many were allowed to register. Did a Pokernews player even end up winning it?
11-05-2007 08:06
^^^^ what he said.
Not that I played. But as I've said elsewhere ... these freerolls are enticing because of the potential value.
Making a deposit should be a minimum requirement.
Having 800 people for a freeroll is not something that should be celebrated. It is a slap in the face to people who actually deposited money on that site and were set to play in a freeroll with less than 100 people before it was cancelled.
I actually considered playing the poker770 freeroll but didn't because I couldn't fit it into my schedule. Reading this, I'm really glad now that I didn't bother.
