Ridiculous is the only word that I know that really describes the situation. I see that there is a PokerNews Make Up Tournament at 4:00 EST today on Wingowspoker. That would be great if not for the reality of this tournament. This tournament is a make up of one that was canceled previously due to only having 23 players. Wingows had "inadvertently" set a minimum of 50 players. Sound familiar poker770 players?
Now it is 5 days before the event that this tourney was a satellite for. That is NOT enough time to make arrangements to travel to Australia. To make matters worse, a ticket is required to register for this tournament. NOBODY has a ticket. Wingows never reissued them.
So, it appears to me that Wingows really had no intention of making good on their previous promise to hold a make up tournament. They've tried to slide this tournament in without sending any emails notifying the players. That way they could say that they held the make up but nobody came. Well, I nose around enough to have seen the tournament but still can't register. Like I said in the beginning, ridiculous.
All of this brings up other issues. As I've always said on this matter, the real blame lies with Wingows. However, there is guilt by association to be placed on PokerNews. Don't get me wrong, I am a loyal PokerNewser but reality is reality. This association with a questionable site does not look favorable upon PokerNews. This really bothers me.
I think that PokerNews does a GREAT job with the news of the poker world and with the Live Coverage of the major tournaments. I also fully understand the business model that necessitates affiliating PokerNews with various poker sites to generate revenue. However, when PokerNews affiliates itself with a site such as Wingows that is highly questionable, it does not reflect well upon PokerNews's integrity. I don't think that is what is in the best interest of PokerNews overall.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents worth.
My new motto is "Expect nothing and you'll never be disappointed"

I'm one of the original 23 and don't know anything about this tourney - nothing on my email.....
It's easy to blame the poker rooms, but it's happening far too frequently across multiple rooms, I think Pokernews have to take some of the blame - the execution of their tournaments needs serious improvement.....

Hi,
After all the scheduled Wingows PokerNews Cup freerolls were over. I contacted Wingows and asked them when they would be holding the extra PokerNews Cup freeroll they had promised.
They replied to me and said that they had not promised another PokerNews Cup freeroll, but were only intending on holding a cash freeroll.
Although they do not say explicitly in the other thread that the extra freeroll will be a PokerNews Cup one, I told them that their responses certainly made it look that way. I was pretty disappointed with this and certainly let them know that, and asked them to contact players immediately to let them know what was happening and to avoid further confusion.
They have not replied to any of my emails since. And now it appears they have incorrectly setup the "makeup" freeroll too.
We have been very disappointed at the way Wingows has treated us, our freeroll winners, and our players, and have removed them from PokerNews.
We apologise to everyone who was misled.
Regards,

Thanks for the quick response to my post. Unfortunately, if response had been this quick to begin with, we could have all circled the wagons and lynched the folks at Wingows (or at least Colin).
