There's not really something you can do imo... You're an english forum, trying to compete with fora like 2+2, cardplayer etc.
The only reason the dutch forum is that big is because there are no other fora like it in Holland.
Try to mention the forum more on mainpage, live reports and so on, that might work?

Overall this is a really good Forum. The software is smoothe and the color schemes and graphics make everything look very professional. It keeps me coming back.

stop letting NOOBS like that tony guy post their opinions! ok.
attracting more regulars would be the only way that the site could be improved i think. if we could get some of the pros associated with the site to post from time to time that might help.
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire.

As much as I hate posting requirements, I think if PokerNews were to have freerolls offered at all sites whether or not site was downloaded thru PokerNews, open to all forum participants who post a minimum number of quality posts, you would see traffic increase significantly. Perhaps a qualification may also be having downloaded ANY site and making a deposit thru PN.
Doggie runnin' for da door so as not to get kicked by mods who would need to determine quality posts!!!

Maybe get PN to sponser a bi-weely game like our fun tourny's. Open to all members.(or just active participants) Maybe $100-$200 added with a $10 buy-in.
Also, could open the freerolls to all active members regardless of when and where the various sites were downloaded.
There are way too many people who have been playing at various sites for a long time.

Ya know, if you look at the membership list, there's a ton of folks who visit and read the articles in this site and I'm sure many more than we know visit the forum also. What it's come down to is that the active participants of the forum are providing so much information and humor, there's nothing new to post. There are no new questions. Until we get a resident pro who will share the life experiences of a pro, no matter how mundain, with us, this is all there is.

Pessimistic Optimism is the best I can muster.

You might try putting some videos of games you dont have to be a zillionaire to play in the strategy section. IF i was ever to be able to play 200/400 PLO i dont think id need to pay $29 a month to show me how........Your everyday readers are not playing in the $100R at Stars....... Same for $25K heads up tournys. Are these videos to learn how to play or just for fans to worship their heros?
Dont guess i could get my money back by any chance ????

The best way to improve is to take out a loan and only play high stakes. Stay away from freerolls and low limits, there is nothing but terrible players there it will ruin your mind and your game trust me.

I hope you're joking because that right there is a great way to screw up your life.

I agree...I have always wanted to see pro's comment on how us regular folks played a hand. If they could pick a couple hands posted every week in the hand history or poker strategy and give their thoughts, it would be cool. For example, your post Dave about how to handle flopping trips, etc.

Strategy is something you just might see more of in the future. (*hint* *hint*)

pokernews.nl asks good dutch tournament players to write some strategy articles, I would love to see some articles by AJK or other big bloggers that you recently contracted

In addition though, I would like to see them respond to our posts...kind of an "ask the expert". It is sometimes easier to see their point when it is examples that we really went through. They could look at a couple of the posts we put up every week and then choose one to write on.

True that, but since the forum is not really run by the people of the site... that would just have to come from the players themselves.
I think we'll definitely need to up the quality of the forum: less cry posts, more posters etc to attract the big players.

MANY OF THESE FORUMS ARE VERY INTERESTING.
AS PER THE FREEROLLS I AGREE MEMBERS SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE AS TO THE AMOUNT OF THERE POSTS,NOT TO WHERE THEY DOWNLOADED FROM

One thing that I have seen in other places that would be cool if we could get it here is a "preview" button for posting comments. Especially when I post hand history, it has a lot of code and I have to post to see what it looks like and then go back and edit a lot of times. If there was a way to add a preview, so that I could see what it looks like before I actually post it, that would help me. Not sure if it is hard, but just an idea.
