A Comprehensive Look at the WSOP Final Table Delay – Part Two

The logical conclusion for this TV Championship which will make tons of money for the stations, production crew and others involved...but not the players...is to have the TV folks put up the money for the prizes and not the losing players.

Make the entry into the championships free via satellites that start running right after the Final Table. Each poker room can send xx players to the championship and set their own rules for determining who that will be after a one year competition.

I don't see how this will create new poker players. ESPN will surely hype the hell out of the FT and that should pull back the existing players/fans who lost interest (that would be me) during the 4 month lag. But you couldn't find a more crowded date on the sports calendar. It will be competing with the NFL, NHL and NBA, and the NCAA football season is winding up with everyone talking about who's going to what bowl and the traditional rivalry games playing. There will be zero buzz outside of ESPN's own hype and the existing poker news outlets. There are just too many other things going on in the mind of the casual fans for them to even find the show, much less watch it or take up the game if they aren't already players.

i really dont understand that a commision of well known players - like daniel negreanu - have agreed or even worse was heavily involved in the decision-making process.

its just again the commerce that wins from the sport (yes sport, because i see - in opposite to the writer of the article - poker as a sport)

The delay allows participants more time to make deals, sell pieces, take partners or maybe form a partnership with one of the other finalist. (rehearse signals)

Tournament poker has always been about makind deals, especially at the end of a tournament, when so much money is at stake on "coin flips" I wonder if Harrah's will allow the truth to be told?

tablist is almost as crazy as the 4 month delay. My Dad loved to say "Number Niiinne". We had a T-shirt made up with that. Maybe this means his grandson will be one of the November Nine.
By the way: Tablist
