Here is what I found in my mail 2 weeks ago... I actually found out my result are the same using sharkscope or not ( now that I stopped using it for two weeks ).
FROM POKERSTARS SUPPORT
Hello,
It has come to our attention at PokerStars that you are accessing a prohibited third party website known as "SharkScope.com" during your game play.
Perhaps you were unaware that the use of SharkScope was against the rules, but use of this software under any circumstances is against our terms of service. Those terms of service are located here:
http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/room/tos/
Among them are these terms:
5.4. EXTERNAL PLAYER ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS (EPA). PokerStars
prohibits those External Player Assistance Programs ("EPA
Programs"
which are designed to provide an "Unfair Advantage"
to players. PokerStars defines "External" to mean computer
software...and non-software-based databases or profiles (e.g.
web sites and subscription services). PokerStars defines
an "Unfair Advantage" as any instance in which a User
accesses or compiles information on other players beyond
that which the User has personally observed through the
User's own game play. We encourage you to read our
Prohibited Online Software FAQ at:
http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/room/prohibited/
As SharkScope provides statistics based upon a large database of hands in which you did not play, it is considered to be in violation of this policy.
We are aware that many who receive this alert do not subscribe to SharkScope, but do use the 5 free daily lookups to check their own stats. We do not distinguish between such uses, however, and even this use of SharkScope is prohibited.
For a brief transition period, we will only be issuing this alert. We ask that you stop using SharkScope immediately. On November 15, we will begin closing the accounts of players found to be using SharkScope despite having received and acknowledged a warning.
Thank you for your cooperation in this matter, and for helping us to keep PokerStars' games a fair and level playing field for all players.
Best Regards,
PokerStars Game Security

haha. that sucks. i have never used sharkscope. i dont use the pokertracker in game software either but i know a ton of people do. i always thought i could get more info by just watching the players.
i guess this evens the field for me a bit. haha.
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire.

Well, I just used it playing HU and honestly I thought it was ok to use it. I just used it to see if a player was a total sucker and will push me around with nothing or if I was facing a solid player.
As I said I think it was helping a little to avoid big mistakes mainly on the first hands ( it can get pretty agressive at the beggining of a HU match ) but at the end of the day, It doesn t make my results night and day.
the real usefull part of sharkscope is to monitor your performance as you can see your results.
Any website you would recommend to monitor your own performance?

www.sngbase.com
It's in beta right now, the code you have to enter is PNBETA.
It works really well, the only thing is that you have to enter your own results, it does not track them automatically.
(on the site is a video explaining it)

I don't like sharkscope and its good to be forbidden in PS. Its just ridiculous to know how someone is playing without even you played with him! Or is he/she losing or winning player...
Veryyy nice PokerStars!
fish ooooo fish I want you in my dish

PokerStars can basically tell you whether you can visit a site or not. The only requirement would be that it has to be included it in the terms that you have to agree to when registering.

I knew it was against the rules, but I have never heard of people actually being called out on it. I know a ton of people who use it.
10-01-2009 16:40
they used to call people out when they started the rule, but after a couple of weeks there were just too many players complaining about it.
