"That's because managers of the mostly-unregulated $18 billion Internet gambling industry failed to respond to their complaints."
.
.

Makes it sound the the whole 'industry" is one giant corrupt corporation run by a sleazy few.

Hoping the show is better.

I'm hoping that this show will demonstrate the possiblility and ease with which the US could regulate the industry and open it back up for US players.

What matters most is how well you walk through the fire.

It amazes me that the government is pushing the UIGEA at a time when banks are already needing bailouts. This does nothing but push additional expenses on the banks. Kinda like throwing water on a sinking ship.

yeah that has been my argument all along.

why raise their expenses now when they cant afford to function as it is? i guess the government officials come from some higher level of thinking that i cant possibly understand.

Well this won't help - the story is called "The Cheaters" and the description of the story below is from their website.

60 Minutes and The Washington Post reveal how online poker players suspecting cheating were forced to successfully ferret out the cheaters themselves. That's because managers of the mostly-unregulated $18 billion Internet gambling industry failed to respond to their complaints. Steve Kroft and The Washington Post's Gilbert Gaul report.

I was pretty disappointed in the piece. The statement "It's illegal to gamble online in the US" was used several times. There was no distinction between online gambling and online poker. This is just more ammunition for the NAY Sayers.
