i think 20,000 hands in Ivey becomes a favorite over anyone.
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire.

its gonna be really interesting
Don't get mad that you lost, get mad because you didn't win.

durrr is a sick player, and trust me, I think, in the long run, only Ivey has a chance.

Even if Ivey felt he was a 2-1 underdog he would take this bet because he is getting 3 to 1 on his money! This is a no-brainer for anybody with a bankroll! Not a very smart move by Dwan to think he is a 75% favorite over anybody, let alone guys like Ivey.

this is NOT 3 to 1 odds. really the pay off at the end has absolutely nothing to do with this challenge. by the end of 50,000 hands 1.5million is probably not going to mean much, esp. if they play a bunch of PLO.
I think the only reason the 1.5million matters is in case someone wants to bail out of the challenge half way through. I would be willing to bet that if this does go down someone will lose 3 or 4 million and then back out of the bet and just pay it off.
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire.

Viticus,
I agree with you 100% and was responding that way. He knows that a lot more money will be bet on those 50,000 hands than what the side wager is.
Lets say 50,000 hands $400 BB. Lets say the average pot is 10x the big blind (I think a very conservative number). That brings the total of all pots to $200,000,000. Assuming he has a 1% favor in winning the pots over the long run, that means his profit would be $2,000,000.
I don't know enough about his play, but against Ivey, I would be cheering for him. I have heard too many bad stories about Ivey berating "lesser" players lately. Seems like all the Phil's may be going this direction! I don't hate Phil H., but, I like to think Ivey would be above acting like that! Scotty Nguyen lost a little of my support after his drunken tirade at the HORSE championship this past year.
There is never a wrong mistake as long as you learn the first time!

yes you're right Viticus and mrdick, the money that will exchange hands over the course of 50,000(my guess is ivey will pick PLO) hands will be infinitely greater than the 1.5 mil. All Tom is trying to do is induce someone to play him for that long of a duration at that high of a stake. I've seen Tom 4 table 400 PLO before, it's pretty nuts. I say they will never reach 50,000 hands, someone will back down should the money lopside enough and just pay the respective wager. I can't wait to watch it though, the rail will be awfully crowded.
