Florida Considers Legalizing No-Limit Poker as Part of Gaming Expansion

What is funny is a couple of the details really left out. How about this for the intelligence of our government here in Florida.

Our Governor actually signed a pact with the tribes down here to allow gambling at their reservation casinos, very similar to this bill. Why did he do this? There was a good chance the Federal Government would say that the tribes could do it anyways so Christ wanted to make it easier by just letting them do it without a fight and taxing it!

Everyone was up in arms about this pact (including owners of racetracks, etc.) because this was horrible, despite the fact that we were getting billions of dollars over time in new taxes from them. Despite having a lottery, dog tracks, and poker rooms of smaller limits, many people argued that this would bring unwanted gambling to the state. So, the representatives in the Florida Capital fought it and said they would not allow this pact to continue (with much support from the track owners). It wasn't about everyone having the right to do it, they didn't want it anywhere!

Now in Florida, we are following the national trend of horrible Real Estate, so we are also having many budget deficits. The poker rooms and dog tracks have seen their revenues drop. Of course, when people are suffering and not making much money, the state should really step up to help protect the people that need it. So, enter the bill above. Now that the state needs money they all of the sudden think this is a good idea! All of the sudden, gambling is a great thing for our state!

The funny part is regardless of whether the state allows it, the Indian Tribes would most likely be allowed to keep the same gambling on their casino land. So, the state finally woke up after they realized 1. they needed the tax revenue and if they try to fight the indian reservations on it, they will get nothing and 2. the lobbyist realized that the dogtrack owners and everything would actually be handicapped if this bill wasn't introduced.

This is why I love politicians!!!!
