Hi Guys,

I have just been on a poker site who shall remain nameless watching a high stakes HA match between Antonius and Ivey which was entertaining to say the least (including massive 200k pots). Anyway, so here I am watching them play and there are the usual idiots on the rail. Same old thing, spamming, abusive language, begging for money and general ignorance and disrespect of other people which as we all know is commonplace unfortunately on sites like this one.

But heres the thing which was a little different. There appeared to be a girl on the rail who was begging for money repeatedly and yes the issue of sexual favours came up followed by these idiots wanting her email address, willing to give her cash etc. It was at this point where i expected the chat moderator to come along and ban them altogether. What did transpire was nothing. Ten minutes later the chat moderator pops up suspending one guys chat priveleges for a whole 10 minutes for spamming and another for less than a day for abusive language. As I speak alot of these idiots are still there saying whatever they want with no course of action imposed by this site.

So anyway,

this got me thinking. Why don't these sites take positive action against the morons once and for all and hit them with monthly or yearly bans etc. The answer of course is simple. If these poker sites did that they would lose these players (who probably put in their paychecks every payday. Yes it comes down once again to money and the fact that these poker sites don't want to lose business at any cost. So, the message which is sent out is simple, do what u want, say what u want, abuse whoever the hell u want.......... it is all okay. Just please, please keep depositing that paycheck to us every fortnight.

I firmly believe that poker sites have a responsibility to the poker industry and its players to act in an appropriate manner, be decisive in their actions and do what is in the best interests of the players. It is NOT ALL ABOUT THE DOLLAR, a sobering thought to be sure!

I still don't quite understand why that bothers you so much.

You know that nobody's gonna have anything interesting to say. You know that the chat moderators are not gonna ban the spammers and beggars. So why can't you just ignore the chat?

And yes, it is all about the dollar. 1 hour late registration comes to mind.

I agree H. You have the option of not viewing the chat. Heck, you weren't even one of the players playing at the table...so maybe you should but out? Let these people talk as they want. Why is it that everyone thinks they have the right to not be offended? I offend people all the time by speaking my mind. Doesn't mean anything bad at me. Just learn to ignore other people and your life may be less stressful!

And yes, this is different than being in a casino and playing live!

Dear all,

the previous two posts don't get what I am saying. You both seem to think that behaviour of the sort is okay and should not be worried/concerned about......in the words of John McEnroe "are you serious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!".Poker like other sports, games etc should be conducted in an appropriate manner with respect being shown to all involved. I am interested to know what other regular visitors to this website think on this issue. By the way Mr Dick to U.....u seem like a real piece of work, and no my life is just fine ,not stressful at all and I was brought up by my parents to treat everybody with respect.......weren't u???????.

I absolutely treat everyone with respect! I am a southern gentleman after all. However, I was also taught not to judge! I don't judge people on whether their behaviour is "okay" or not. As long as they aren't physically infringing on someones rights, I let them be.

The problem is people try and say what is right or wrong, in their opinion. And lord, too many people are allowed to have opinions! People play poker from all over the world. Like in your example, prostitution. I don't like it and would never partake in it. However, if someone wants to, that is their right (yes, take away issues of children). I had a good friend in college who was a stripper/prostitute. I never had any issues with it and she was actually very respectable and smart!

What I am saying is who are you to say what is right or wrong? Why don't you worry about yourself and as long as they aren't harming you, go on with your life. Everyone is different. I can almost guaruntee you that you partake in an activity that other people view as bad. (GAMBLING!!!) So, don't judge other people and we won't judge you. Just turn off the chat and enjoy the big match you were watching!

Rio, I understand what you are talking about and sometimes think those players have no self respect, but in a way they're doing nothing wrong.
The rules are that they should not abuse other players, not that they should not be retards that actually think they're getting somewhere.

While I totally agree on the etiquette part you posted earlier, I can't be bugged by something like this.

I need a girlfriend who loves me for my money... and is pretty bad with math.

I'll be the first to say mrdick2u is a real piece of work.

Honestly, I understand you argument here. I think my point, along with the previous two, is that why are you bothered by these things?

Yes FT could drop the ban hammer on anyone using inappropriate speech. However, where do they draw the line? Do i lose my chat privilege for typing something like sh*t? Or is it more biased to sexually or morally inappropriate language? Would I be punished for telling someone their avatar has a great rack?

I guess my point is at what point do you not allow people to be themselves. When do YOU get to decide when someone needs to stop acting one way or another?

I know a mother of 5 that supported her children for 10yrs as a prostitute. Never once took money from the government or anyone else. Is she a bad person for doing this? I dont know, and I dont think you have the right to judge her for it.

What matters most is how well you walk through the fire.

To Viticus and Rockbottom,

thanks for your feedback it is appreciated. Discussions like this are interesting and if everyone had the same opinion on everyone and everything it would be a boring life indeed. Viticus, in reference to your point about drawing the line I just think that these sites need to have conditions as to what is appropriate and what is not. Thats all, I'm not beating myself up on it, i just think that there needs to be stricter codes of conduct enforced, but that's just my opinion......oh and by the way, i have been caught quite a few times with the "you got a great rack (or Aussie talk "got great tits" line) in my youthful 20's.

cheers and thanks again for your comments

Hey Mr dickt 2u,

no hard feelings mate. Like I said it is just my opinion and that is all. It is always interesting to here what other people think besides oneself. Your feedback is appreciated just like everyone else. Also, I to be quite honest am more critical of the poker sites than any individuals mentioned earlier...but again, it is only my opinion. By the way, being an aussie i drink pints. Carlton Draught thankyou champ!!!

HAHA...I personally don't like it, but also don't think they should "draw lines in the sand". But anyways, that is behind us! Now on to the beer. Unfortunately, I only drink domestic for me...Bud Light! However, if you look in my wine cooler, it is dominated by Australian wines. Especially the Shiraz!

I absolutely get what you are saying. No, I don't think that behaviour of the sort is okay. I don't see where I said that.

A girl on the rail offering sexual favors for money? Are you serious? You must be new to the internet if you actually believe this nonsense. Did her measurements happen to be 90-60-90 too?

Now to my actual point. You have probably spent hours on thinking and writing about this issue. That leads me to assume that you really have a huge problem with kids writing stupid crap in the chatbox. That is perfectly fine.

I can assure you, that every adult on this forum shares your opinion, that is not and never was my point.

I can ignore these kids, you can not. It's your pain in the ass, so why don't you do something about it? Send an e-mail / letter to Full Tilt, call them, start an online petition, just do something. Post it on here and I'll move it to the recommended topics box.

Your 2 current threads on here however, are not gonna change a thing.

OK, time for my 2 cents worth. I understand what Riossumo is complaining about. I agree with a lot of his complaints. It may be an age thing. I get tired of juvenile chat in the chat boxes myself. Do I expect the site to do anything about it? Probably not. Most of the time (as is the case with anything) things don't get out of hand in a normal tourney or ring game. Throw a pro or 2 on the table though, and the freaks come out. I've seen the advice of turning off the chat (which a lot of the pros do) or ignoring the comments given. Turning it off eliminates the problem but also eliminates the possibility of using the chat function for what it's for. I personally have no problem ignoring comments made in the chat box but get really annoyed with the guy that constantly hits zzzzzzz. I've laughed out loud reading some of the childish or moronic things people have typed. It seems that the younger crowd likes to use the chat box to try and tilt a player or to talk smack. Just write it off to age and move on.

Will us complaining about it here change anything? No way. But, when did that stop us from complaining about that KITNs on the river or moronic play that beat us or anything else? It didn't.

One of the things to remember about poker is that it's a game played live and online by people of all ages and backgrounds. That's one of the things that makes it interesting. Here on the PokerNews forum, we've got a pretty wide array of backgrounds represented. Like I said, that's what makes it interesting.

No, absolutely not. But that is part of the game and there's nothing to be done about it, except stop playing. I don't think that really is an option.

In this case however, there are several simple options which might change something if you really can't get over it. In case they do improve it, all the power to you. If they don't care, hell at least you've tried.

Davega,

I agree maybe it is an age thing. Yesterday I turned 43yrs old, maybe my tolerance/patience levels are decreasing with age..........what is the name of that movie..................Grumpy Old Men. In reference to Horoeschio's comments, I can assure you I don't have a"pain in the ass" about it as you so eloquently put it nor is it something I cannot ignore or get over. It is only my opinion and after all mate it is different points of views/opinions which make forums like the one on this site interesting. Opinions are like arseholes....everyones got one and thank god we do

I was pointing out the age thing because at my age, I agree with you. If I was in my 20's, I may not.

Wow, you took this way too far! I can think of quite a few people who shouldn't have one. No one on here though. (well, maybe with the exception of H.'s best friend)

And, I think you might be a great character for grumpy old men. I think RB and myself could serve as the wonderful young kids that piss you guys off so much!
