The Party Poker WSOP series is a series of 3 games with a $5 buy in. The $5 is paid out in prizes and the top 20 qualify for the WSOP freeroll.

I bought in to game 1, and with less than 20 runners was lucky to get into the freeroll. Rather strangely, the buy ins were paid out to players in 21st to 30th position. Players that didnt exist. That money seems to have disappeared. I didnt worry about it too much as I was in a great value freeroll.

Afterwards I received the following information by email from Party Poker:

Do you know you can go on winning multiple entries to the PokerNews $12,000 WSOP Freeroll tournament?

That's right but you must play your first PokerNews $12,000 WSOP Freeroll entry first and any additional entries will be refunded to your PartyAccount.com account.

Great I thought. Low entry numbers and I can keep playing.

I couldnt play Game 2, but have tonight played Game 3. Numbers were up, about 40. Same structure with prizes from 30th up to $60 for 21st. So additional tickets must refund more than $60 right? Wrong. I finished in the top 20 again and received this email:

Yes I did contact Party Poker as well. This was their first reply.

Please note that I can understand how you would feel as though you are disadvantaged, with regard to other players who do not reach the same achievement as you do in these tournaments. In addition the reason why the refunds you receive after a freeroll has been encashed is 0.00 USD refunds you receive for some of the entries you win is 0.00 USD, is because freeroll entries do not have monetary value.

You do not pay buy-in for them, therefore the amount refunded is 0.00 USD. When you win more than one entry for the same event, within the same week, the subsequent entries are encashed for its value.

Furthermore the payout structure for this event, is in accordance to our "Multi-Table Tournament Payouts", which you may read more about at the following link:

http://www.partypoker.com/tournaments/types_tournament/multi_table/payout_structure.html

At the bottom of this web page, you will see the following "all Multi-Table Tournaments that give out entries to other events, online or offline, will use the payout structures above until the minimum prize pool is met for any such entries, after which any remaining cash will be paid out to the three runner-ups on a 50%, 30%, 20% basis.".

This being the reason why all players qualifying in positions after 20th, receive cash rewards. The top 20 players received entries, and the players who were not eligible for an entry, were paid accordingly to the above mentioned distribution.

I wasn't happy with that at all, so replied and this was their 2nd reply.

Thank you for contacting us.

I am sorry for the confusion that occurred in this situation and the inconvenience it caused you. This is why we have refunded the 4.08 GBP you paid to enter the Poker News WSOP Qualifier III and won the second entry. You can see the transaction find them in your available balance as soon as you log in to your account. You can check the transaction by going to "My Account" > "Account" > "Transaction History".

Now, as for the first Poker News WSOP Qualifier for 6 USD you played and finished among the top 20 players – you won an entry to the "Poker News $12,000 WSOP Freeroll". Basically, for your 6 USD you got the exclusive chance to win $12,000 World Series of Poker Package, which includes entry to the $10,000 Main Event, plus cash for travel and accommodation. For more information on this tournament please check your affiliate site, www.pokernews.com .This is where you will also see that you can win only one entry for this tourney from the three 6 USD qualifiers (and this is why you got refunded with "0 USD" for your second entry). I wish you a lot of luck in Poker News $12,000 WSOP Freeroll.

You can see your entry by going to the "My Account" section of the software, clicking on "Account" then clicking on the "Transaction history" sub-tab. By choosing "Tournament Buy-in History for Registered Tournaments" you will be able to see the tourneys you are registered to, but have not yet played – as you know in most cases when you win an entry to a tourney you get automatically registered for the next available one. Do not forget that the tournament will be held on May 03, 2009 at 13:35 EDT.

In case you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be more than happy to help you.

Thank you for choosing us as your online gaming site.

I'm not happy with that at all, but at least I got my buy in back.

It's a pretty poor situation. Win the tournament and get your buy in back, lose the tournament and you lose your buy in. Apart from the time involved, it's a no win situation for me, all I can do is lose.

There's no explanation either why Party Poker emailed me recommending that I play again a 2nd time when it clearly wasnt in my best interests.
