2-7 triple draw. What is going on...

Playing 2-7 triple draw in 8-games I get very frustrated seeing people winning showdown with rough 9 and then, when I get to a showdown I always seem to face at least a smooth 8.

I can look at it every different way, it s not specific to some fish playing against each other and me going against the best players, I just seem to be way too much on the wrong end of the stick.

At this game ( 8-games on PS ) once people are in the pot it is really hard to get them to fold with position play when you should be ahead ( eg, they draw 2 you draw 1 they check you bet... ).

Is there something specific I should looking for? I just can t seem to figure it out. I play with pretty solid bases against players who will start drawing without a lot of clue on what they are doing and can t milk them as I should... There must be some kind of leak around here...

I have a problem with 2-7 and run into the same thing you do. This is actually one game in my rotation that I hate playing. As a result, I get super tight on this. I play with hands that have a minimum of 4 cards 7 or less (3 if in the small blind). I will not bet the pot until I make a 8 or better hand and I will only call if I improved since the last draw. It is very tight and don't play many hands, but when I do, I seem to do fine and can actually build a big pot. My whole goal in 8 game is to protect my chips in games like this and then really take other peoples money in the games that I really like.

One thing I dont see on you post MrD is to never ever get in a pot without a 2. Don t even think about it

I will play hands without starting with a 2. However, I factor this into my decision to call on future streets. I mean, an 8,7,4,3,x starting hand isn't that bad.
