im interested to hear some opinions on how to go about learning all the games in poker. for example, is it better to learn one at a time? should a beginner find a variation of the game they enjoy, learn it until they are happy with their skill level, and then move on to another game. or do you think approaching 2 or 3 different games at the same time can be effective? (can a NLHE player take on learning every game in HORSE at the same time? should it be broken down?)
Also, how do the different variations of the game have an effect on path one should take. (should one take on full ring, 6-max, or HUsngs first? then do you learn all of the dynamics between those before moving on to a different game say 08 or stud8)
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire.

I know I suck at them all and everything. However, I think getting experience in them all at first is a good plan. Sometimes things you pick up on one game will help you with others. Then find which game you enjoy the most and start there. I think 6 max cash games are the best to learn on because you do not have to be as selective with your hands. In a larger game, you will get punished more often for playing incorrect hands. However, I think in 6 max it may not hurt you as much. From there, you should be able to see who are the winning players and then figure out why you are a losing player and adjust. Once you feel confident with that game, move on to one of the other ones.
There is never a wrong mistake as long as you learn the first time!

Someone said (A big name Pro) you don't have to be the best at every game so long as you can as your not the worst player at any one game at your table, then you should be able to have some success.
I have found that more often than not Hold em is my worst game in a HORSE game, yet i think i play limit Hold em well on its own.
Omaha is my least favorite game, so i don't play it much and tend to be pretty tight and avoid anything but the best of starting/drawing hands.
If you like to play stud, then you should be able to adapt to Razz, just remember to watch for the change if its not displayed on the table as some people tend to think they're still in Razz and its really stud or stud and its stud hi/lo.
I found to learn Hold em then mix in Omaha, Stud then mix in some razz was good for me

I would imagine if your looking to get familiar with another variation of poker you should do some research and find one that interests you. I agree its useful to know how to play them all, however if you find one particular game boring then you should find one you can get into.
Example : If you like hold em maybe Omaha would be the next progression, because is almost similar to Texas Hold em, however you are given 4 hole cards rather then 2 etc.
Just find a variation your interested in. If you don't enjoy learning it, you most likely wont retain information as well as a game you enjoy.
And then you will beg.....

If the person is a beginner then he should first gain basic knowledge about the poker like he should read books related to gambling to make his skills strong. After that when he is fully prepared about himself then he should start playing different games related to poker.
