I have never seen a situation like this, and I am curious how that works. It goes with out saying Ivey is only human and made a mistake. But I am still perplexed. If it gets down to show down and a player misinterprets his hand and mucks his cards, even when he won the hand, the other player gets to keep the chips? Don't officials step in and correct said situation?
And then you will beg.....

The officials dont know what the hand is until it is shown.
It is the players responsibility 100% to know if he won or not, unless he shows the hand then the cards speak for themselves.

Umm.. how would officials step in when they don't know what Ivey had?

That is a bit dumb, I get why the player would be responsible but Ivey lost a decent sized pot to some dude, just cuz the officials watching didn't point it out.
And then you will beg.....

Are you serious? If Ivey just shows his damn cards how he's supposed to, he wins the pot.

So, if you throw away a winning lottery ticket without ever checking the numbers, the lottery official should be responsible for you throwing away money?

Look if it were a normal game where there weren't card cams I would understand, no one would know period. But this was televised, and needless to say that who ever was running the televised WSOP 09 would have some knowledge of poker. And bring it to an officials attention. I get it, I understand the way the situation ends. I just think some guy ended up with extra chips when he ultimately does not even need em. Mean while more chips would help any player, especially Ivey being in the Nov 9.
And then you will beg.....

There is no reason why someone should have stopped Ivey mucking his winner. The player and the player alone needs to remember his cards.

Also, anyone able to see the video (i.e. the guys in the trailer) is forbidden to say anything about the hands being played.
I need a girlfriend who loves me for my money... and is pretty bad with math.
