I have heard that it was the French that brought Poker to the Americas, through what is now the state of Louisiana. However, the site I got this information off might have been wrong ( http://chips88.com/ask_the_pros/where_did_poker_originate/ ).
Do you know anything about this? It seems as if it is hard to document the history of Cards game. After all who is going to bother writing down the day they first played a new type of game, in a book that is likely to withstand the test of time.
