Kentuckians aren’t allowed to buy consumer fireworks

Kentucky voters in 2012 will be asked to amend the state constitution to guarantee their right to hunt and fish. House Bill 1 flew through the House and Senate with little opposition and was delivered to the secretary of state’s office March 8. (Constitutional amendments don’t go to the governor.) Critics said it was unnecessary because nobody is threatening Kentuckians’ right to hunt and fish.

Kentuckians aren’t allowed to buy consumer fireworks and use them in the state. Some retailers sell fireworks by getting customers to sign a waiver stating they will not ignite them inside Kentucky. That prohibition is rarely enforced. It’s also about to end, because House Bill 333, delivered to Beshear on March 4, will allow the sale of consumer fireworks in Kentucky by registered dealers.

The little Cheap Chanel Handbags of white powder aren’t really bath salts, plant food or insect repellent. They’re actually powerful hallucinatory drugs misleadingly labeled as bath salts, essentially a cover for the retailers who sell them. Regardless, they’re about to be illegal in Kentucky under House Bill 121, sent to Beshear for his signature on March 4.
