One of last year’s biggest television hits was PokerStars’ The Big Game, which took the poker world by storm and saw Bob Ferdinand emerge as the 2010 Big Game Loose Cannon Champion. He managed to win $181,500 and the $50,000 North American Poker Tour Passport. Recently, pros and amateurs gathered in Las Vegas to film season two of The Big Game. Top poker pros Jonathan Duhamel, Jennifer Tilly and Daniel Negreanu confirmed their appearances via Twitter, evidence that PokerStars was putting together an all-star lineup. So, with the few pros who were signing on, we started thinking of some pros...

I agree with Jaka, although he may only play tournaments and not big cash games, Devilfish and Blom, but not the other two. Baldwin probably won't play that high and is a tournament player. Cates would more than likely play, but he may not be the best TV personality to have on the show.

A few people that should be included would be Sam Farha, Dwyte Pilgrim, but only if he acts like he does on the WPT airing, Shaun Deeb, Sam Trickett and Andrew "balugawhale" Seidman.

I'd like to see DI and Hac Dang play, it would be an exhibition of how high stakes cash games should be played.

duhamel=boring, tilley=put that rack away, i agree with bigbaddon in terms of wanting fat shaun deeb on their i think he'd be really good for tv, other than that its not like there are personalities out there that haven't gotten their tv time

bigbaddon can you tell me how those shows work in terms of pay? Guys sit down in the big game for 100k but is that really their money or are they playing with house money? i gotta believe in Poker After Dark the 20k would be about what an appearance fee would be? (or way higher for some)
any info you have would be appreciated...

I'm pretty sure everyone plays their own money, minus the Loose Cannon, who is staked by PokerStars on The Big Game. Oftentimes, as also with tournaments, players will piece themselves out to play if it's above what they normally play and they are taking a shot for television.

FIVE
1. Tony G - forces action, talks alot, riles his opponents / abrasive personality, nice guy too. What a combo!! He should not only be on the list, he should be #1.
2. Phil Hellmuth - because he's the guy everyone loves to hate, and because you never know which Phil is gonna show up to play (the complete Nit, or just the awful cash game player). In either case, he makes for great television, and against Tony G, the VERY BEST POKER ON TELEVISION - PERIOD!!
3. Daniel Negreanu - because he's PokerStars' biggest name, and people tune in to see him - and it still is about the ratings.
4. Sam Farha - because he likes to play every hand, and he forces the action = more, and bigger pots. And he's a crack up! Who doesn't love Sammy?
5. Viewers Choice - THE WILDCARD!! Why not?! Should be someone that adds to the game and doesn't attract flies with his open-mouth style (ala Scott Seiver). The play is one thing but on my big screen tv, the close-up's are pretty disgusting!! Just a good player that adds to the table talk, and can get dirty with the best of them!! David Williams, Viffer, ...you know.

If it has to be PokerStars Pros, one can only hope the brilliant minds at PokerStars can sweeten their team's selection criteria for people that can actually help their tv ratings - now that's a novel idea!!

Percival, Tony G, Hellmuth and Negreanu are all regularly featured on the show. Chad is listing five players he'd like to see in the future that haven't been on the show. There is also a wildcard/viewers' choice pick in the Loose Cannon. Casting videos are voted on for this spot by fans of the show.
